Hodge Trophy

pin2win

@hagertony
who do you think it will go too?

i personally think burroughs should get it but with all the hype i think they will give it to robles or do a co-hodge winner like they did with cael sanderson and nick ackerman

I would have said David Taylor if he had won the national championship but he got stuck in the finals and also I don't know if they would've given it to a freshman.

Burroughs would get my vote. He was so dominant all season and unlike Taylor, closed out the year in style in the finals. That said, I'm guessing it will be Robles because he also had a dominant season and is the hot story in wrestling right now

taylor wouldn't of got it if he won there is criteria they go by and he doesn't have the whole package like burroughs, robles

He looked dominant most of the year. Winning by escape without scoring a single TD in the Big 12 championships over Caldwell was not dominating. That being said I think he should still win it.

I also like Reader simply based on the tremendous improvement he made to be where he was at the end of this season. I don't think that many people would have predicted 39-0 for him while moving up a weight class.

Pin...good find on the breakdown. Numbers don't lie...Jordan Burroughs is the man but it will be interesting to see if they give it to Robles or have the, share it.

Interesting note about Burroughs...the only two guys to beat him on the winners side of the bracket at nationals were Metcalf and Dustin Schlatter. Not too shabby

I wish quality of competition was higher, right behind record. Based on the quality he went thru, I would like to see Russell get strong consideration for it. He was in perhaps the deepest weight class, beat every top contender, and never lost.

Burroughs, Oliver, and Robles are all deserving of it as well as they had way more dominating wins, but IMO 133 and 157 weren't nearly as deep, and Robles didn't face a top contender until the finals. Had he wrestled Precin, he may have lost, as Precin wrestled him before and had beaten him. Same with McDonough, had he wrestled Robles before the finals, he would have a better chance of figuring him out.

My vote goes to Russell.

Burroughs hands down, this kid is amazing to watch on the mat. He will hit you with a blast double from half way across the arena.

Russell does have a case, being in the toughest weight but Burroughs dominates in a class where not alot of points are scored. 165 is usually 1-1 going into OT, 3-2 final, 2-2 winner by riding time those types of matches.

Not that this matters either but Burroughs being a 2 Champ and Senior will probably seal the deal.

I also would like to think they look at what type of style you wrestle, Robles uses the same tilts in every match to score his techs and pins. Where a guy like Burroughs has used a wide varity of skills and technique to dismantle his opponents.

Just my 2 cents

they have to take the leg out if it goes to robles
