What percentage of guys initially graded as 2 stars get drafted? How many of those are from Iowa or Wisconsin?
One think Kirk gets right is churning out tight ends most years at Iowa. We good.
O'Keefe is still teaching Brian. This is just the beginning.Just one more thing the master taught the protege.
Well, at least the Brian Ferentz fan club will have excuses next year. Who is Stanley going to throw over next season?
He doesn't get shit right. He had no clue how to use Fant, well actually Noah was just in his doghouse. He has no clue how to use anyone that can be considered a playmaker. Hence why we don't have anything above maybe MAC talent at wide receiver. One think Kirk gets right is churning out tight ends most years at Iowa. We good.

I think he was talking about Ferentz's use of Fant in-game for the Hawks, not so much his development.T.J Hockenson was rated the 66th best tight end in the 2016 class. Three years later, he's the nation's top tight end. Noah Fant is a first rounder who came to Iowa as a 3 star DE. Before them George Kittle, you have no clue what you're talking about.

I don't disagree entirely. I think we left points on the table because of it.
Your 100% right No debate from me on any of that. Those on the other side of the fence just feel there was a lot of meat left on that bone to be had for Fant well both he and TJ really. And that just totally skews how things are looked at by those that felt that way...The OP I replied to said that Ferentz has no clue how use anyone who is considered a playmaker. Which is what I am replying to.
I agree, Noah should have played more and got more touches this season. His use around the Red Zone was perplexing at times. But can we stop with the over dramatization of reality? He had 7 TD's this season, which is 2nd in the country for TE's. Last year he lead the country in TD's for TE's. This season his counter part won the award for the best TE in the country. Noah only had 7 less catches than this years Mackey Award winner. Noah had 18 TD's at Iowa in 2 seasons. Dallas Clark had 8. Sometimes posters can only drive one narrative regardless of reality. Iowa should have used Noah more, but let's not get carried away. 3 seasons ago Iowa had Kittle, Fant and Hockenson in the same TE room. If they didn't know how to use them we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

I just look at it differently I guess. The number of NFL guys coming out is great...I get that. The OP I replied to said that Ferentz has no clue how use anyone who is considered a playmaker. Which is what I am replying to.

But the first priority should be winning Hawkeye games, and I just think Ferentz avoided using Fant when having him on the field at the same time as Hockenson stretched defenses out like crazy. I don't think it's over dramatization to say that, while he had 7 TDs, it could have just as easily been 11 or 12 and that may have won a few more games. It should be obvious by now--especially if you're a Hawkeye fan--that putting out NFL-caliber players doesn't correlate with winning college games. Kittle is one of my top 3 all-time favorite Hawkeyes, but its plainly (and statistically) true that he has been way more productive in the NFL than he was at Iowa. Fant was, in my opinion, in the KF naughty dog house like A-Rob and others before him, and I don't blame him for being bitter towards a coach who I feel held back his minutes out of spite. Your opinion may be different.
Last point, and I apologize for the blown gasket you're about to give yourself...
Speaking of over dramatization...You may not be able to see the forest for the trees, but you are one of the most dramatic and certainly the most "triggerable" posters on this board, it's just that you're on the other side of the fence.
Same as @lightning1 instantly explodes when someone defends Farta, you go full-nuclear drama queen when someone suggests the Hawkeyes are a subpar football team. But...you want the other guys to stop being dramatic? Hmm...
You like to tell us (repeatedly) how you don't care and let the "haters" roll off your chest, but you're doing the exact same thing you want them to stop doing, lol. You do make some pretty defensible points, but if you're going to call people out for something, you can't be one of the worst at it yourself. I get riled up with hyperbole too, but I do not bitch at other people about it because that's what this absurdity of a message board is all about.
You can start your meltdown now, I'm eagerly awaiting the notifications...
Sorry to disappoint you but there is no melt down from me on the horizon. If that's what you think, that's fine. I try and keep it fairly real and really pride myself on calling people out for bad takes that don't make sense. Cause it's my opinion. I share it. That makes me a drama queen to you. So much that you call me out for it every couple of months. I am not calling you out for that, even though you speak in constant hyperbole about Iowa sports. I don't think you're a drama queen even though you do it. I think you just like to bust my balls. Now, I'm not always right, and I make mistakes like the rest and I've had plenty of bad takes myself, but I've never blown a top. I don't call people names, I don't feel like I've ever been triggered on HN. Never blocked anyone. Never had any kind of dispute that can't be hashed out. Is it triggered to respond to another poster? If so, than yes, I am guilty of that, otherwise I have no idea what you're blabbing about.
Re: bolded, I absolutely do that. What I don't do, and the point your missing out on, is that I don't cry out for people to stop being dramatic (or anything else), especially when I do it myself. Which you do.
Your post above is a perfect example of you being "triggered."
Blast your opinions out there, have a laugh or three, but don't tell people not to be drama queens when you're a card-carrying member of the Drama Club yourself.

I'm struggling to understand how an inaccurate QB is a dig on Brian.
