HN TV: Gary Barta Moving Ahead from Meyer-Griesbaum Cases

I am so tired of hearing what a great fund raiser Barta is. If it wasn't for the Big 10 Network kicking in big bucks the Athletic Dept. would be in big trouble. It is anyway. I know of many former Kinnick Society members (including myself) who have quit giving over the past 6 years. The real people who raise money for the Athletic Dept. are located in the Levitt Center.
Iowa really doesn't do a good job finding and developing new contributors to replace those great givers who have passed on like Russ Gerdin, Dick Jacobson, Bill Krause among others. The money is not pouring in from major donors. Iowa is fortunate that Ted Pacha, the car dealer from Cedar Falls and Stu Hansen stepped up most recently for projects.
Gary's lack of personality is a major turnoff to many. There are many reasons Gary should be terminated now when the University can with cause , not having to pay any future salaries. The President and Board of Regents need to grow a set and do the right thing for the state of Iowa. He has proven he is a bad leader/manager.

I'm not so sure his vanilla personality isn't actually what they want. Though you don't want to hear that he's a good fundraiser, he is by many accounts, a good one. A vanilla personality who doesn't clash with Kirk and brings in $$$. Sounds like what a lot of big brass want.

Actually this couldn't be further from the truth. This is the good old world of academia and an example of having the right political connections. In the business world this guy would have been cut loose in a heartbeat. Instead he is in a insulated academia setting with all the right political connections, so he is safe in his little cocoon.

Lol, yeah like the athletic department is actually a part of the academic community. Athletic departments are their own animal. Which you'd know if you actually worked at one...but you don't. The whole smear academia thing is kind of old and quite frankly a desperate attempt by idiots to make everyone as dumb as they are.

In what world do you live in that the Athletic Department ISN'T part of a university under the direction of the Schools President? This is absolutely a case of how academia is insulated in a way that the business world isn't.

Also your thin skin is rather amusing. If you think that academia is perfect, and has no warts that deserve to be exposed and see the light of day, then it just proves you are part of the problem.
