HN.COM One Year Anniversary: Thank You

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you for visiting the site, whether you just found it or you go back to my days of the Miller Time newsletter back in 1998-1999.

HN.com came to life April 12th of 2001, and I took it independent last year on October 19th.

We had been publishing the site at what is now HawkeyeInsider.com on the Scout network between 2003-2009, so six years of established presence.

In our first year as a totally independent site in a genre dominated by the networks, we had 90% of the traffic we had in our 6th year with Scout.com. Frankly I had anticipated around 50-70%, so I am elated with the numbers and grateful for your support.

We had visitors from 164 countries around the world in the last year, a mind blowing number.

Due to your support, we are growing at an unexpected rate and I vow to invest some of the resources we are able to generate back into the site...we have several ideas in the works...some are near term, some are in the 12th month range. No, I have not forgotten about the recruiting concept I mentioned; it's still out there, and it's still what I think will be a game changer in the genre...but its not the right time to launch it just yet. I need to keep building up my war chest and hit the ground with it at full speed, not anything less. We are in the process of building an HN.com store and that is exciting. Several ideas in the hopper.

Thanks for allowing me to pursue my lifelong dream of covering Iowa Hawkeye athletics by visiting this site, one that we are committed to keeping 100% free for all Iowa fans to enjoy

Jon
Thanks for creating the site. it is great. I check it every morning with my first cup of coffee. Many of us think about a life long dream, very few ever get to live it. Enjoy and GO HAWKS!!!

Jon, I have to say I hate you for creating this site!

It distracts me too much from school :D

No seriously, thanks for getting this off the ground, I love this site!

No problem, Jon. I visited the site from Japan, you prolly had a few Canadians and Hawk fans visiting Mexico, but the other 160 countries were prolly like just pr0n bots or something looking to hack your servers.

Jon, living out of state this is one of the ways I try to stay connected and feel like an Iowan. Been gone 30 years but in the planning stages to move back in the next 2-3 years. Thanks for the dual purpose this site provides me everyday.

I second this- Jon, your site has been and I believe will continue to be a great source of information for all Hawkeyes, especially us living outside the state lines. Keep up the great work and quality effort.
