If Moss ends up really good, Wagner pretty good, and Williams decent (all ifs but they do have 2 more years) you can't call that a terrible class. It does still have the option to end up terrible tho.
Those are huge ifs

How do you think Moss this year (freshman) compares to Jok as a sophomore? Similar minutes played. Now, do I think Moss will end up as good as Jok? Not sure - but they compare as fresh vs soph. There's signs of hope there.
I think Moss this year is better than sophomore Jok. His defense is far better and his ability to get to the rim is better IMO. I think Moss will be the better all around/overall player. Below are their respective stats for the years in question. How do you think Moss this year (freshman) compares to Jok as a sophomore? Similar minutes played. Moss is so inconsistent so I just don't know. Jok also drastically improved and was always a great shooter
Jok's sophomore year was wildly inconsistent as well (see link below). I am not saying Moss will improve like Jok has, but I don't think you can see inconsistency and know that he won't improve. Also, he has 3 more years where Jok only had 2 left at that point.

Jok has a lot more upside than Moss ever will. Jok was a former top recruit for a reason
Absolutely no denying that. But at this point, if Moss can shoot better, he already can take the ball to the basketball better than Jok and can be a way better defender as well. Again, he may not be the better player, but he has room to improve and has 3 more years to improve.
I guess I just don't see it happening. Our guards are going to be a weak link next year
Do you think Moss goes to the hoop and plays better defense than Jok did as a sophomore? I would argue Moss is better than Jok defensively right now. Why don't you think he will improve even more with 3 more years to go?
Moss is better in transition, that's about it. His defense is really inconsistent, sometimes it's worse than Jok's. I have no idea what's going on in his head
If you were watching Iowa play basketball 2 and 3 years ago, you would have seen Jok didn't even know who he was guarding half the time. Seriously, it was like watching a youth team when one player hasn't found his guy. He would routinely be taken out of the game and lectured by coaches about defense. Jok is better now, but he still doesn't have equal energy on the defensive end than on the offensive end.
I haven't said Moss will become as good as Jok. But, I do like the fact he has 3 years left to improve while being about the same level as Jok was as a sophomore.
Jok and Marble improved more than anyone that I can remember in their careers. I'm not going to get my hopes up Moss joins that list
Considering you wrote Moss off as a miss before he ever played a game in a Hawkeye uniform, I will take what you think with a grain of salt.
I know this thread is looking at (comparing) past Iowa coaches. But I think comparing conference records over the last 2+ years (since MD & RUT joined) is a fair comparison of how well Fran has done relative to other Big 10 coaches. I realize the schedules aren't balanced but nothing is perfect.
