Hidden Gems for 2016 Spring Signing Period

I wonder if Fran has ever thought about looking for some basketball talent in the state of Kansas. The reason I ask because I just read a very interesting article about a PG that's seen as a major sleeper along with other sleepers in Kansas. It was an article that I found on 247Sports titled, Harding a Major Sleeper in 2016 Class.

The article was about PG Jerrick Harding from Wichita, Kansas. He's a 6-1/175 smooth lefty PG that attends Southeast High School and a standout in his area. His offers are not very plentiful, but seems like the type of player Iowa basketball needs on the roster. I hope that Iowa makes an offer on him, but I'm sure there's no scholarships left to offer.

The other sleepers in Kansas that were mentioned are the following: PG Justin Roberts from Lawrence, Kansas; PG Malik Keith from Topeka (Highland Park), Kansas, SF Jordan Newby from Topeka (West), Kansas and SF Davon Gill from Wichita (Heights), Kansas.

I think Iowa should bring them all on campus for a visit and see what happens. This might be wishful thinking, but it doesn't hurt to try for the Spring Signing Period.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, probably not going to happen. Somebody would have to announce they are going to transfer immediately after the season to allow Fran to go for any of them. And that's not even taking into account whether any of these guys are really that good to begin with.

I think Baer is getting only scholly on the table. Although another PG would be a good thing we just aren't going to get one. Next yr it'll be Williams and the committee of other guards handling it. It'll be interesting to see how much or if Bohannon will figure in next yr. Kid can shoot and nothing will get you on the court faster more than that.

There are no scholarships on the table are there?

He will factor in quite a bit I think. He can handle the ball and isn't prone to turning it over, which Fran likes. I think next year Fran is just looking for a PG who won't turn it over and be more of a floor general. We'll have plenty of others who can score - Jok, Cook, Uhl, and Wagner to start with.
