And they know that if you have a kid at state track in more than one event, most likely those events are on different days. A kid running the 1600 or 3200 probably isn’t in the 200. So guess how many tickets you have to buy if your son or daughter runs on 3 different days? It's about $14 per ticket for next week's championship games.
One ticket gets you into 8 player, A, 1A and 4A champ games on Thursday.
$14 gets you two games Friday early...2A and 3A.
Then they kick you out and you have to buy another $14 ticket to view the later 5A game
To wit, my hometown Hampton Bulldogs finished 4-4 then actually hosted a first round playoff game, which they somehow won. But then they got run over by Osage the next round. EmbarrassingAnd they know that if you have a kid at state track in more than one event, most likely those events are on different days. A kid running the 1600 or 3200 probably isn’t in the 200. And do we think they added a football playoff round because there were too many good teams being left out? Nope. They just have terrible teams play the likely state champs right away so they can double their blood money. There’s nothing more absurd than a 4-4 football team getting “Playoff Qualifier” t-shirts made.
Sorry, I’ll shut up now. My button on the topic is easily pushed.

We need to do what Illinois does.I remember our hs was playing cedar falls when I was at Xavier in Cedar Rapids. I only went to watch as I didn’t play. CF was all set up with their turf shoes while the players that never played on it had to wear their normal everyday tennis shoes. I’m not sure if it’s still that way. But it definitely made it a disadvantage. CF was good that season but they 50 pointed Xavier, who wasn’t that bad, by the 3rd quarter. Was rough to watch the guys struggle to maintain footing. Hope it’s different today. Idk how they would change it other than maybe supplying them or the players purchasing themselves.
It just really seemed to be a huge advantage to have the correct shoes, obviously. I couldn’t believe they were told to just wear their usual tennis shoes. You could see the players ankles having very little support even if taped. I can’t remember correctly, it’s been too long, but I believe CF may have won it all that yearWe need to do what Illinois does.
In Illinois if you’re a parochial school you have 2 choices…play up a class or join the parochial school class.
Public schools playing against Dowling money is a farce
7 classes, 6 parochial schools in the finals. You can't tell me the playing field is level. We need to do what Illinois does.

Nope. Seeing RSM forfeit games this year and not make the playoffs due to numbers was somewhat satisfying. I mean it sucks for the kids, but they’ve been on the gravy train long enough. Had a couple kids “commuting” from Sgt Bluff last year. Now try and convince me they paid tuition.7 classes, 6 parochial schools in the finals. You can't tell me the playing field is level.
They have gobs of money to hire full time professional coaches and college level facilities, and they don’t have districting boundaries. The people saying public kids can open enroll so that’s not an argument are idiots. How many public school parents can afford to do that?It just really seemed to be a huge advantage to have the correct shoes, obviously. Yeah I can see that happening for sure. They have gobs of money to hire full time professional coaches and college level facilities, and they don’t have districting boundaries. I also know from personal experience and relationships that if you’re an elite athlete you’re going to get tuition waived. I can name several names up in my part of the state where basketball is king.
