Very glad it didnt include Kinnick, and really dont think its that bad at all. It seems my employer dropped the Cy-Hawk series in favor of the "Heroes" game which is ok in my book. It could have been SOOOOOO much worse!!

No, I think it's clear you are projecting your beliefs on the rest of the people of Iowa and Nebraska. From what I know about these people, their primary thought will be "I WANT TO KICK IOWA/NEBRASKA'S ***!!!", and not something like "LET'S SHOW EVERYONE THAT THIS IS JUST A GAME AND THERE IS SO MUCH MORE THAT IS IMPORTANT!!!"

This. On the day of a real rivalry game, there is nothing more important than beating the other guy.
its a good sentiment, but a bad rivalry theme.

I never said that people would care more about the off field aspect than the game. You said "people in Iowa and Nebraska won't care about the people being honored". I strongly disagree with that. Put Sal Guinta in front of a crowd at Kinnick and I guarantee you people care.
