1. The hawks do not have cutback runners and if we run outside zone sweeps against a faster overpursuing Nebby defense we dont avg 2 ypc yet we kept doing it and doing it over and over and over for crap yardage ad nauseum. I am not getting on the players but Davis is just pounding his head on a brick wall and wasting plays.
How can a head coach stand for that.
2. Inside zone type straight ahead runs were doing the most damage today so it should have been apparent to keep pounding Nebby for 4 ypc and and like Wisky did just demoralize them.
3. The hawks do also have a pulling guard run blocking scheme between the tackles which I do not remember seeing today. If was pretty obvious after the first 5 times we tried sweeps to give up on that play.
so we had about 15-20 wasted outside sweep plays when the shortest distance between the LOS and the endzone seemed to be working better.
4. GD can't seem to call any quick slants which is a preferred pass pattern in the NFL and many college teams with high powered passing games. Why is this, GD calls about 5 slants each year.
When your receivers are having trouble getting open a quick slant should work and some stop patterns and comeback patterns should work. I dont remember seeing anything like this.
5. GD calls a lot of slowly evolving passing patterns that gets his QB in trouble.
6. GD cant put together a whole game of offense in any game this year.
7. The offense scored 17 pts against crappy ISU and only 17 today in regulation against a team that got manhandled by Wisky and pushed around by Minny.
I dont like to call for a firing/resignation but this is old and boring and aint working.
Anyone else see other evidence?
