Help understanding Kenpom

I like to see the rankings from Kenpom and always check them out but I never quite understand it.

Wisconsin is ranked #2 despite losing 5 games and having a SOS ranked 94th if I am reading that correct.

Syracuse is ranked #3 and they are 17-0 and have a SOS ranked 84th.

How does that makes sense? Can someone explain?
