After suffering two gut-wrenching bottom of the 9th inning walk-off losses -- one by suicide squeeze Friday night, and by HR Saturday night -- the Hawks rebounded nicely today with a no-doubt 8-0 shutout today. Saturday night's game was especially painful, as Heller's boys went 0-11 with runners in scoring position. Ouch.
Even tho the Hawks dropped 2 of 3 in Seattle, the great news is that UCLA dropped 2 of 3 to USC this weekend also, so Iowa leaves the weekend in no worse shape in the BTen standings than before.
The way I see it, if Illinois can beat UCLA just 1 game next weekend, and Iowa can beat Oregon just 1 game the last weekend of the regular season, Iowa is guaranteed no worse than a share of the BTen title with UCLA and/or Oregon and/or USC.
Go Illini! Go Hawks!
