A continuation of another thread discussing Iowa's chances of making the playoffs. If Iowa were to go down, who do you think is the team most likely to make us throw the remote or take some Zoloft for the rest of the weekend (finishing out the Big Ten Season)?

I voted for Purdue. Jeff Brahm seems to have some magic knowledge on how to attack Iowa's defense and how to beat Iowa. Although this year Purdue's offense is not looking that great despite still having David Bell. At least Rondale Moore is gone.

Of course if you base it on odds to win each game, MD, PSU and Wisc each have better chance to beat Iowa than Purdue. So my vote is more of a hunch based on past nightmares.

I voted Maryland. Short week. Very few issues will be solved. Travel game. Friday night. Tua athletic qb. Don't get me wrong, simply a feeling not a hope or expectation. We don't solve the OLine issues in 4-5 days. Unless they play like they played vs IL 20-17.

For the record, Tualia is not a running QB at all. Doesn't mean he can't move around in the pocket more than Petras, but take a look at his rushing stats. He is more similar to Penix than the other three QBs Iowa faces in that his goal is to get the ball out quickly and let his playmakers get YAC

That being said, he throws with a lot more zip than Penix and has this far been accurate.

Keys on defense will be d line penetration (look for lots of balls knocked down at the LOS) and tackling on the back end. If Maryland is settling for field goals, then Iowa can win going away.

Voted Penn State- they seem to have the mojo going. Tough call, MD is also a possibility, but I just have a "feeling" about Fridays game.............

Franklin has PSU humming.
Iowa's offense will most likely still be suspect.
Thank goodness it's @ Kinnick.

Close 2nd is Purdue. They always give us fits. Always.
We needed that to be a night game. Fans and players both level up for night games and now it's going to be the same time of day as everyone else.

I just don't think being in Kinnick will be a huge advantage.

Yes it stinks that the networks did not make this a night game....or whoever ultimately made the decision.

Crazy thing is with our style of play and offense being what it is just about anyone is capable of beating us. If we don't force turnovers and say turn it over ourselves it'd only take a possession or 2 for things to go against us. Our margin of error is just that thin. Frankly this MD game has me nervous. They are a fast athletic team. We should beat them but we'll have to keep doing what we've been doing on D to do it. It's just a lot to ask. Thankfully we are pretty healthy at this point in the season.

Doesn't say what was a night game or not, although I do remember the 24-23 (home) and 21-10 (away) wins were night games.

I may be mistaken, but alot of those may not have been night games, but ended under with the teams battling it out under the lights. For some reason I'm thinking there were a number of memorable late afternoon games that ended after the sun went down.

The 2008 24-23 game was not technically a night game. It stated at 2:30 and finished under the lights when Murray hit his game winning kick.

I know 2017 and 2019 were both night games.

If Iowa players are looking ahead this could be a trap game. I don't think it will happen but as one poster has stated there isn't much time to iron out the kinks on the offense. The D looked human in the first half against CSU and they didn't have the talent at receiver that Maryland has. That being said Iowa had like 5 chances to come up up with ints. This game scares me because the Twerps have been steadily improving since joining the league and has given us fits in the past.

Well I said "athletic" qb..not running :)

Ok, here's what's going to happen. We will beat Penn St. with a last second field goal. We will then have a couple 8-10 point wins over Purdue and Wisconsin. We come into the Northwestern game at number 3 in the nation. NW trots some 5'10" slightly overweight dude out at QB and he proceeds to absolutely shred Iowa with his arm and his legs. Guys that run a 5.5 40 are catching 5 yard passes over and over and over. Our running game averages 1.5 yards a carry and we lose 13-10.

As long as they don't sack Petras in the endzone and tear up his leg we should be fine.

On that note, we better hope Petras stays healthy.
