Caught the replay on BTN early this morning. So much win in that game:
- A number of Hawkeyes who would later be given the chance to compete on Sundays were in Kinnick Stadium that day, including Shonn Green, Amari Spievey, Bryan Bulaga, Shaun Prater, Jordan Bernstine, Tony Moeaki, Tyler Sash, Jeff Tarpinian, Jeremiha Hunter, Brad Herman, Pat Angerer, Christian Ballard, Dezman Moses, Mitch King, Matt Kroul, Rob Bruggeman, Kyle Calloway, Julian Vandervelde, Marvin McNutt, Seth Olsen, Riley Reiff, Andy Brodell, Allen Reisner, Brandon Myers, Trey Stross, Broderick Binns, Adrian Clayborn, Karl Klug, Mike Daniels, Ricky Stanzi. I'm sure the more astute on here can name some others.
- The sweetness of beating the man who had a plan to restore Iowa State to greatness. Gene Chizik's team proceeded to lose all nine of its remaining games to wind up 2-10. Three months after the Iowa game Chizik slunk out of Ames and wound up at ... Auburn, where he would win a national championship two years later.
- A fairly ineffective Stanzi was benched in the fourth quarter in favor of ...Jake Christensen, who quarterbacked the drive that produced Shonn Greene's game-winning touchdown to break a 3-3 tie.
- The win was sealed with one of the greatest punt returns in Iowa football history.

The replay was bittersweet: Brett Greenwood, then a healthy sophomore, was in on several plays late in the game to preserve the victory.
