Hayden welcomed Dwight back - Kirk chased off Willies

Both of those Iowans very talented skill players.

Hayden could humble his ego to beg Dwight to stay.

Kirk couldn't do that with Willies.

A stark illustration between the master and the apprentice.

Kirk gave Willies a way back on the team and Willies chose not to do it. How is that running him off?

I truly don't recall Tim Dwight leaving the team. Please provide the details. Did TD leave in the middle of the season like DW did? Look, if Iowa really does go with CJ next season, we really could use Willies. Perhaps kfootball or the new coach can re-recruit him to re-think kfootballs conditions for returning. But, the kid did quit on his teammates and that just isn't acceptable and allowing him to return with conditions is generous, as long as they are attainable.

To respond to your question, I think Kirk made it clear he quit on Willies before Willies quit on him. Hayden had a different style.

CJ is another example. In the mid 90s I believe Hayden had a highly recruited Ryan Driscol on the team. He stayed even though he wasn't the starter. CJ I think will be chased off by summer. Kirk has chased off lots of QBs in his time at Iowa. More than Hayden did that's for sure.

Ryan Driscoll stayed on the team in the mid-nineties despite being on the second team......

....So Fire Ferentz?

Does Willies have explosiveness? Yes. He is a great athlete. But trust me, I am all for getting rid of Ferentz now but if I had a player leave my program, I wouldn't let him back on the team either because you either want to be on this team because you are a die hard for the other 50+ guys on your team, not for the coach. Willies can go find somewhere else, if he does good, good for him.

How did Kirk quit on Willies? Because he didn't get to play enough? Last time I checked that is the coach's decision to make not the players. You don't quit in the middle of the season if it happens.

What QBs has KF run off? He's going run off CJ after naming him the starter? Wow you are reaching there.

And Pat Angerer and LTP both went into Kirk's office and quit the team as well. They seemed to find the way back to the team just fine. This is on Willies, not Kirk. Willies didn't want to have to wait til Spring, and not be guaranteed anything. Making him work his way back is how you find out how committed he is. If he isn't even willing to work his way back to the spot he had before he quit, you know he will quit again......and he did.

You didn't respond to his question. He asked about the Tim Dwight leaving the team
I'm curious about that too

He's making it up, Dwight never quit. He is trying to compare Willies to Dwight, like Willies could ever hold Dwight's jock.

You can't be serious. You think Kirk made him feel welcome by red-shirting him while giving Vandy TWO starts as a true freshmen. Then following up this year by making Vandy a starter on special teams and giving Matt way more time on the field. The majority are embarrassed for you asking such a question.

You need to stop drinking and sleep it off. You think the wise thing to do would have been burning Willies RS in 2013? He showed that he wasn't ready to play 2 years in, let along his TR FR year.....Heck, I'd bet you'd claim that Willies was leaving this year if KF burned his RS last year.

What did Willies choose not to do? What was the way back on the team?

Maybe you should actually read the posts. As I said to another person I don't know specifically what he had to do to get back on the team. It was reported that Kirk would allow Willies back on the team if he did certain things. Willies has chosen not to do them. If you want to know the specifics I guess you could ask Kirk or Willies.
