OCTOBER 20TH, 1990 - IOWA 24, (at) Michigan 23: In their first season in the post–Bo Schembechler era, the Wolverines had already lost in the season-opener at #1 Notre Dame, and after winning four in a row, had just lost in East Lansing, by one point, the week before. Yet, somehow, even with a REALLY stupid foul–up just before halftime that left us inside the Michigan 5-yard-line without so much as getting even a field goal, we still won the game, and eventually ended up in Hayden’s third and final Rose Bowl. How good was Michigan? After this game, it was 1993 before they lost again to a team not ranked #1.
By the way, the final drive by Iowa was an absolute thing of beauty - the Hawkeyes did not even face a 3rd down as they drove the length of the field down six points in the games final five minutes. After the go-ahead TD, a Moses Santos sack on Elvis Grbac (THE first time he had been sacked all season, apparently), and a John Derby interception sealed it.

By the way #2, this wasn't even the season's top Hawkeye game highlight. Stay tuned.
