I bet it looked more like this

this from a french site, after I plugged it into a french to english translator:

"For his first game of preparation, the Hyeres-Toulon Var Basketball is imposed 84-82 against the University of Iowa. It took an extension and a shot at the buzzer of Pierre Pierce to decide between the two teams. Note that Ludovic Chelle has not taken part in the meeting."

So Pierce hits a buzzer beater...and Iowa told The Gazette they used an outside scheduling service for these games and never would have scheduled the game if they had known Pierce was on the roster...they were handed a roster minutes before the game. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall to see some of their reactions.

I would not make a bigger deal out of PP playing than it needs to be. When somthing like this happens the best action is no action. The game was what it was .... A close contest that the hawks came up short. This is still great experience and should provide Fran with some material to keep these guys motivated. Getting good hype right now but still need to go out an prove it.

Good trip all in all. Glad they are playing some real comp.

Who all was on the trip, though? I'm sure Fran wouldn't have been thrilled, but not outraged about it. Most of the players probably didn't even know who he was/is. If Barta, or some other administrative types were there, I could see more emotional reactions.

This. With Strom retiring is there anybody with the Iowa program that is still here from the Pierce years?
