Definitely ragged at the end, but, wow, nice to race out to and hold a lead.

Also "nice" to see Olaseni outscore Woodbury, Basabe and May :p

Good to see that we can win with Woody on the bench. Would have been nice to see him in late when UNI was getting so many easy layups.

Pretty much the only strategy question I have in regards to how this game went was in the last 2 mins why wouldn't he play Josh O instead of say May? You can't tell me it was for defensive purposes or ball handling, because that was as much of an ole D as you'll ever see. They had no less then 6 or 7 layups down the stretch where they took 4-7 seconds off the clock tops. It never burned us obviously with them having never fouled May but I'd have rather seen that smart strategy and even play alittle more offense defense and put Woodbury back in there to not just let them walk to the rim like they did over and over. Even if Woody fouls out so what at that point. If they get a stop or 2 there when there was less than say 1:30 to go the game is over alot sooner and isn't as hairy as it got.

The defense at the end of the game was bit frustrating. The only part of win I was disappointed with is with 10 seconds left on the shot clock there were times Iowa just settled for a three instead of trying to break their man down off the dribble, that is going to have to improve as Iowa gets in the BIG.

A few at the end was Iowa guarding the 3pt line. I have no problem giving them 2 when we are up 6 with less than a minute left.

Jon, call me old-school but I like reserving "from the line" to mean free-throw line. You said "Iowa was 26 of 37 from the line for the game...." then later "Iowa’s 12 of 25 from the line..."

#nitpicking
#nicewin

That would be a typo. Should have said 12-25 from three point line. Nothing old school about that; just an error

Guarding perimeter tight to avoid UNI 3 ball + no help defense = 1 on 1 matchup getting beat and layup

That and they were clearly told to avoid fouling at all cost.

They were a bit too cautious IMO but Im sure Fran was expecting UNI to start jacking up threes sooner than later and they never did. They never really cut into the lead much either with that strategy so it worked out for Iowa.

I was impressed with the Hawks' 3 pt. defense today. They were closing out on the shooters with their hands above the ball on most occasions.

I was not as frustrated with the ole defense at the end because the refs were calling a pretty tight game and would hate to pick up a cheap foul there. (Not complaining about the refs.). The Hawks did a good job of executing the inbounds pass and making free throws.
