Hawks O-line will be just fine minus kozan

Like it or not even in today's college football game one player can make a significant difference. I understand the sentiment, but this is a sour grapes cliche in some cases. There are guys like Tebow, Newton, Bo Jackson, Barry Sanders and other great that have made legendary impacts on the game that even transcended their team. Granted, Kozan isn't in this class of players, but to pretend that individuals don't greatly impact a team is simply being disingenuous.

I am firmly of the belief that we're fine without Kozan. The point of the reply isn't to contest that, but rather underscore the fact that single players can and do make large impacts.

This is a weird response. You listed 4 of the best college football players ever to compare to Kozan? Whatever. If anything, this list shows that the exception proves the rule.

Wonder how Sentrel Henderson is feeling now, after HIS daddy picked his college for him.Don't hear alot about this 10* Superman. Oh, I guees it's not that far to auburn if he needs a new contract $ Maybe (his) agent/daddy can give kozan's agent/daddy some tips on deffered payments...lol YES, I'm still bitter/heartbroken...

There's a decent amount of depth, but it is very very young. Be interesting who takes charge in the spring and fall. Will Scherff step up, maybe move to tackle, or remove Tobin completely. Is Van Sloten ready? What about Donnal, Blythe, and Walsh?

We have some talent, but it is young.

sorry my table looks like crap

the OL could have;
Donnal 4* LT
Walsh 4* LG
Simmons 3* JUCO C
Blythe 4* RG
Ward 4* RT
definetly not lacking in the star power

Miami suspends Seantrel Henderson for start of spring practice

Henderson was suspended for the opening weekend of spring practice for a violation of team rules...

After a freshman season in which he started nine games, Henderson was suspended for the season opener last year and then missed three other games due to offseason back surgery.

He ended up starting two games, but has been far from the dominant lineman expected when he enrolled with the Hurricanes after being one of the nation's top recruits.

Golden appeared frustrated by the latest incident as he tries to build on a 6-6 season with his team facing an uncertain future due to a pending NCAA investigation into players receiving impermissible benefits.

No, I clearly didn't compare them to Kozan, I simply used them to disprove the comment that was made at face value which was inaccurate.

There is no rule, and any player or coach on any team will tell you that individuals can make and do make big differences. This is clear on so many levels it's not even debatable. When big name players get injured it can change the tide of a game or season.

It's a sour grapes excuse for those that don't want to be disappointed by Kozan not choosing Iowa. Yes, we'll be fine without him, but having him here would have been a nice addition. If he develops into a solid OL at this level then it was an unfortunate miss for us.

I do think that one player can make a difference on defense or at a skill position. One amazing offensive lineman with good players filling the rest of the line makes a good line, nit an amazing one. Who cares where Kozan went unless 3-5 others went with him.

Guys, so we didn't get Kozan but we still went 12-0 during a year he would have been on the team. Let's always keep that in perspective.

Besides Wirfs who only got to a 4 star very late in the process, how many of Iowa's pro's have been 4 or 5 star variety in the KF era? I bet very few. KP would have been a nice and is a loss, but perspective is needed

Look, we get a good kick in the nuts every few years on recruiting. It's part of our brand identity now. Kozan was going to solve everything. He went to Auburn instead and was a solid player but certainly not a world beater. We survived.
