Hawks O-line will be just fine minus kozan

KF and crew just sent several o-lineman to the NFL. Think of it, Bulaga, vandevelde, now reiff, gettis, and zucs when he heals.

These guys were under the radar yet 4 years with Iowa coaching and strength training gets 3 top linemen to NFL.

KF, BF, and other coaches will keep this going. We lose 3 out of 5 starters but guys will be ready to jump in and do very well.

Who thinks kozan is that big of a loss?

with 4* fr Walsh and 4* fr Blythe both playing the same position why worry, just give the scholly to a SR walkon and give it to another top OL next Febuary, there are several out there the staff is in on

The OL better be better than 'just fine' if the offense is using one back in a majority of offensive schemes.

Seriously, Kozan probably doesn't even have hair on his balls yet. Guess what, we will dance with what we got, and in the middle of that dance, we will open a can of whoopass on whomever we are dancing with. They won't want to dance with us in the fourth quarter that's for sure.

We are fine in the OL for years to come. Another solid class this year to go with last years class. I think Blythe starts this year and makes an impact as a RS Freshman. The next RR is my guess.

Bulaga was nowhere near under the radar. He was a 4* recruit and one of the top lineman in the nation. Reiff wasn't really that under the radar neither imo. The others I agree with you and I agree with your thread title. If there is one area where Iowa is able to land blue chip type players it's on the offensive line. Donnal, Ward and Walsh were all 4* highly rated lineman.

He was a 3* defensive end.
Maybe not completely under the radar, but certainly not top 10 pick OL material.

Kozan would be a nice addition. But no one player makes or breaks team.

Like it or not even in today's college football game one player can make a significant difference. I understand the sentiment, but this is a sour grapes cliche in some cases. There are guys like Tebow, Newton, Bo Jackson, Barry Sanders and other great that have made legendary impacts on the game that even transcended their team. Granted, Kozan isn't in this class of players, but to pretend that individuals don't greatly impact a team is simply being disingenuous.

I am firmly of the belief that we're fine without Kozan. The point of the reply isn't to contest that, but rather underscore the fact that single players can and do make large impacts.

I think we need a thread to debate how/where kozan would have played...IF he had come to Iowa....

High school talent dosen't always equate to D1 talent. We will never know if he could help us or not. Besides, we never had him in the first place.
