Hawks lost to ISU that just got pounded by a bad Kansas team

I just had to say it. I hate to play comparative scoring but this is bad. KU is terrible just like ISU but KU could handle ISU at home by 3 TDs.

This season is a real head scratcher. We are bowl eligible but that ISU loss just looks even more terrible.

We just lost 51-14 to an average Minnesota team. We had to pull off a miracle to beat Ball St. We cannot block anyone and have given 200+ yds rushing 4 times. And yes we lost at home to an ISU team that has ZERO other power
5 victories and a 7 pt win to Toledo, a loss to Kansas and an FCS loss.

We played ONE complete game all year against a marginal NW.

I am trying to decide if this team is better than 2012 or not?

Decline this bowl bid is all I can think.

You want the really ugly comparative Iowa would be 1-7 with ISU schedule.

Here is what it would look like.

North Dakota State- L
Kansas State- L
Iowa State- L
Baylor- L
@OKlahoma State- L
Toledo- W
@Texas- L
Oklahoma- L
@Kansas - L

if they lose to ttech next week they will go winless in conference play......inexcusable to lose to them.

Nope, UNI killed NDSU we would easily beat them.

Kirk is 7-9 vs ISU; losing to them really isn't a head scratcher. It's been an ongoing issue during his entire tenure here and a real source of frustration for a lot of Iowa fans. I actually thought ISU wouldn't win another game after beating Iowa; Toledo threw a monkey wrench into that prediction.

I really don't know why some folks seem to be so baffled or upset about this years team; I'm seeing 7-5 which is right in that nice, mediocre, comfortable area that Kirk Ferentz generally lives in and most Iowa fans seem to be satisfied with. Considering their schedule this year, that 7-5 will feel a lot more like 5-7 or 4-8. The Big Ten is putrid this year and Iowa is in the weaker division; this should have been the year they really made some noise but I don't see that happening. Of course they still have the opportunity to run the table and finish 9-3 but who really thinks that's going to happen? Last shot at a win is probably Illinois and that's not a certainty at this point.

I've said it before, but the really great years have been few and far between with Kirk and are really an aberration when you look at his total body of work at Iowa. He's been pretty much a .500 coach in conference play and has put up a lot of 6-6/7-5 type years or worse. This year is not unusual at all. I felt like the Hawks would lose today but I certainly wasn't expecting the type of beat down they received today.

Bowl eligible isn't what it was 20 years ago. When you're in a big conference and schedule cupcakes for non conference you're looking at 3 real wins out of 12 games. Of course Ferentz is such a worthless pile that he can't beat Iowa State..but that's ok, because the Big Ten is the worst that it's ever been and even a crap team can get 6 wins. Hell, according to a lot of a lot of dum dums last week since we beat a horrible 3-6 Northwestern team we should be in the national championship.

Bowl eligible means nothing anymore.

Well, it does for a good portion of this fan base that likes any excuse to get the hell out of Iowa for a nice little trip south in the middle of winter.

Our program is a train wreck. It will take 3 years for a good coach to rebuild.
