Hawk's last over seas game today at 12:30

has garza sat out a game? I thought everyone was going to sit out at least one game to provide everyone a chance to play. i don't think he has. that sure substantiates your claim. you're starting 5 is probably spot on.

I think Garza's consistency is what has me most impressed. I don't recall him having a bad game in the PTL and he's played well on this trip.

Sometimes freshman show some flashes but struggle to put it together every night. So far that hasn't been the case with Garza. Probably because he doesn't have to play outside of his strengths. Just battle inside, rebound and convert those opportunities when you get them.

I guess we'll see what happens with the bodies are even bigger and stronger.

I don't think Moss sat out a game either.

14 scholarship level players (includes CM).
Pemsl and Dailey never played due to injury.
2 guys sat each game for four games. That would mean 4 of the available 12 guys played regularly every game.

Ok, pretty clear that Garza will start at the 5.

1. Bohannon
2. Moss
3. Baer
4. Cook
5. Garza

I still say Baer comes off the bench. He's perfect for that role. Fran started Bohannon, Moss, Wagner, Cook, Garza today. Is that a tell of some sort?

It appears that this team is going to be the one with the most offensive power that Iowa has seen in a long time.

The only thing you can be sure of in regard to the competition we played is that all of them still live at home with their mothers...other than that, there's not much on these guys.

Garza's ft shooting is a welcome sight. His abuluty to play through contact and convert the ft makes him unique on this squad, and gives him more of a chance to play late un the game than our recent bigs.

Interesting indeed. Wagner started at the 3 in both games where it appeared the first unit was out there. (Uhl was in place of Cook in the Germany game).

JBo
Moss
Wagner
Cook
Garza

If Wagner is indeed going to play 3 it would make some sense for him to start and have Baer coming off the bench. Baer pairs better with the second unit as Williams and Wagner both struggle with outside shooting. Wagner's defense also makes sense with the first unit that features JBo and Cook. Plenty of offense with JBo, Moss, Cook, and Garza in that starting lineup.

thx. I like the starting 5. The key will be getting the same energy off the bench that Baer provides. If we can get that from Pemsl, I think we'll be ok. It will be interesting to see if Cordell plays noticeably different without the double-groin injury he had all last season.

Garza is quite a get for Fran. Big men typically need the most time to adapt (granted, he's not playing against MSU, Wisconsin, etc yet) to the next level. This kid is mature beyond his years.

From an offensive point of view you gotta love that line up. Can you even imagine what this team is gonna be like if Wagner's offense comes around? YIKES!!!
