Rob Howe of HawkeyeInsider.com tweeted Tuesday evening that Drew Ott from Nebraska had committed to Iowa.

for his Scout.com profile, or here for his Rivals.com profile.

Both databases show Ott with offers from Iowa, Kansas State, North Dakota State and South Dakota State, with Rivals also listing a Toledo offer.

Ott is 6-4/240 and some schools were looking at him more as a tight end, but Ott told Scout.com Iowa likes him as a defensive end.

Ott plays eight-man football in Nebraska, so you could say he is just beginning to get his name out there and he's made a good impression. He has camped at both Kansas State and Iowa this month, entering each camp without an offer from that school and a few days after the camp, he had offers on the table.

Sort of makes you wonder if Ott isn't another diamond in the rough that Iowa has thrived and relied on during the Kirk Ferentz era.

Given the TE or DE options, you know he is athletic...how athletic? Check out this follow up putback slam dunk:

I never mind it when a kid comes to camp and then Kirk throws an offer to him shortly after. He must have liked what he saw. I'd like to see some tape on the kid.

Keep the recruits coming...

The last guy I remember coming to Iowa after playing 8-man football had pretty successful career.
