ESPN s "power rankings" has Iowa at #7. ... AP and coaches polls still amazingly have us behind Stanford. Galloway on espn's football final had Iowa at #6.

I didnt but I thougth the offense would be better with CJ and I knew T Smith was special and had a good idea Vandeberg was going to be a clutch receiver after his game last year against Wisky, Nebby and even Tenn. I was still only thinking 8-4 with an outside chance of 9-3. I expected one or two losses with ISU and Pitt, expected a loss at Wisky, expected a loss at Nebby and either jNW or Indy.
Then the August news that the tackles were 'bad' was not good to hear but that has been changed.
Also losing two really good Dee tackles and the question marks at lnbkr made 8-4 about the highest I could go.
But wow, the lnbkrs are playing great, what an improvement. Vandeberg is like Ed Hinkle. Jaleel and Bazata have fiiled in great. The hawks would be outstanding with Ott. King and the secondary are better than anticipated and the kicking game is very good.

I couldn't have seen 9-0 at this point but I did post a couple of times that any thing below 9-3 was unacceptable based on the schedule.
I could see Iowa possibly losing to Wisconsin and Nebraska and maybe Northwestern, Minnesota, or Pitt. I was settled in at 10-2 but that was being a bit optimistic with the pre-season talk of how good Minny could be.
I thought the defense would be pretty good and was HOPING CJ would carry the team and thought our running backs would be good enough to move the ball. Would not have been shocked to see 8-4 as we could have lost four of the five I listed.
A lot of that thinking was out of frustration in expression of what I thought one of the best paid coaches should do with the schedule.
