Hawks in the morning @ the Bucknuts

Extremely impressive fight. Hawks were down by 12 w/ 1:38 left in regulation. They could've easily folded as OSU was still extending the lead and seemed to have the game all but under control. To come back and take a very good team to OT on their home floor is going to keep the hawks ever gaining confidence from waning. At least they get UCLA at home.

Once again - 1 less t.o. and 1 more made throw and Iowa wins in regulation. Just like Nebby and Oregon.
Hawks are a top 15 team in a 9 seed body:(
Good way to put it... They are clearly capable of playing with top 10 teams. But it's just tough for them to put 40 solid mins together. They play extremely sloppy against the press and commit too many TOs period. It's not just any one player it's all the main ball handlers, Lucy at times, Syd, Kylie, Guyton. I get nervous damn near everytime any of them are dribbling/passing in the open floor.

FT shooting... Man oh man Lucys season at the line needs to be studied.. Clearly she's a capable shooter but she's missed way too many of em this yr. Not sure what's up with that. If she was just shooting like 80% on the yr Iowa'd have 2-3 more wins I bet. But she's gotta be at like closer to 70% or so without having looked it up and that's just not acceptable.

Here I am nitpicking and railing on Lucy and that sure isn't fair to do to her. With all she has on her shoulders and all. I mean she's replacing the Caitlin Clark. There's never been a more impossible task ever attempted frankly. It's just frustrating cause she's capable of hitting more FTs. But this Iowa team is built with a lot of role players that have low ceilings at the moment (The freshmans best days are ahead of them just not this yr) and Lucy has to do the heavy lifting for them to compete. No better two examples of it then the USC game and this one.

I'm an old man and have watched lots of mens and womens hoops over the decades, but I don't think I've ever seen a team go on a 9-1 run in 15 seconds at the end of a close game. Home or away. In a Power 5 game. Ever. That was nothing short of miraculous.
Now, UNI lost a 9 pt lead with 1 minute remaining in the NCAA tourney a number of years ago, but their PG or person who usually inbounds the ball had fouled out, and they simply couldn't inbound the ball, over and over and over and over again -- and lost. But the Hawks were down 9 pts with 40 seconds remaining!
Crazy.

Yeah, if Lucy had made one more free throw in regulation against Nebraska and at Ohio State

We would have won the game

But we wouldn't have been In the game without Lucy

I remember that UNI game, it was frustrating to watch

But the comeback at Ohio State was extraordinary especially with Kylie fouled out and Syd and
Hannah with 4 fouls

Exactly. We think the men are struggling without Freeman... Well imagine this group if say they lost Lucy for any stretch of games... I love Guyton and I'm most certain she'll be a hell of a player in a couple yrs. But I'd cringe if she had to play 30 mins right now and be the main PG. She's a good robin but she's just not ready to be Batman just yet.
