Why would anyone NOT want to join 4 other players at the same position in the same class instead of going to a proven NFL OL pipeline???

And are we to read that you won't be rooting for the kid? I had assumed you were a Hawkeye fan...

He's a very solid basketball player. I think he could have played DIII in that sport. Looks to me like he's been bulking up to prep for football. Foot speed not really impressive. One thing for sure though is he's always been a hard worker so will be interesting to see how he develops. Interesting story with him going to camp as a QB and getting offered as a TE. Obviously, the staff saw something enough to offer on the spot when he had no other DI interest that I'm aware.

In his defense and don't get me wrong, I love the RP commitment. But if the Kirk Ferentz genie showed up and said I could either have Lazard or RP I would take the skill player over the big ugly. We have linemen, especially on the offensive side. What we don't have is a highly skilled WR.

It's the 2014 class...we have time to get a highly skilled WR...I'll take a butt kickin' big ugly anytime.

He had LSU and ND visit and had talked with Alabama the week before he committed. Both guys want to play for the school they love no matter who comes calling and it is great to see the talent stay in state.
 
hey, at this point, i'll take any good news i can when it comes to Iowa football. does this make the earliest commit ever for KF? i don't recall ever having a commit for next year before the signing date for the current year...could be wrong though.
 
This is a very good thing for Iowa football. Not only do we get a highly rated offensive lineman, we are keeping one of, if not, the best kid in the state of Iowa home.
