After a successful meeting on May 12, six-foot forward Emely Rodriquez joined the Hawkeyes from the transfer portal. Rodriguez spent her freshman season at UCF and will remain eligible for three years.

Rodriguez made an immediate impact for the UCF Knights as a freshman last season and can do the same at Iowa in her second season.

She averaged 11.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game and was named to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team.

Rodriguez ranked second on her team in total points (297), second in steals (36), and third in total rebounds (132). She also led the team in free-throw percentage, shooting 75 percent from the charity stripe.

Rodriguez is a versatile player who can play forward and guard. She gives the Hawkeyes an option at the small forward, power forward, and off guard positions, as well as backup Stuelke or Kylie Feuerbach. In her second year, Jensen wants to play big, and Rodriguez fits perfectly into that system.

I'd guess she understands she'll have to compete for minutes, let along start.

Too bad she's not a couple inches taller.

One thing I'll say is she certainly doesn't lack confidence in her game. That's a good thing.

Caitlin had a rather outstanding opening game last Sunday

Triple Double and put the angel on her heels, clipped her wings but angel
had double figure rebounds, she is a beast on the boards

The Fever are Much better than last season with a new experienced coach and a

relatively new roster retaining Caitlin, Aliyah Boston, Kelsie Mitchell and Lexie Hull

replacing the remainder of last years team with seasoned quality players

Their D is light years better and I do believe they are already title contenders

Really fun to watch

Caitlin is definitely running the show and directing traffic

I caved and paid the price to get all the games

It's All Good

IDC what level of play she's coming from putting up 11 plus pts and 5 rbs as a freshmen is doing some work. None of our freshman last yr touched numbers like that. Heiden was coming on but it took her till the last third of the yr to do so. Sounds like she'll be a versatile replacement for Syd kinda. Not sure if she's got her toughness and more of a nose for scrapping it up inside kinda game or not but I like that she can put the ball in the hoop and rebound.

Just a perfect fit for what they needed. I'll be curious what her role will be day 1 though I could see her coming off the bench initially. I think she'll be backing up Kylie, Deal and Hannah and we'll tinker with what her role will kinda be.
