Hawkeyes Working to Find Consistent Rushing Attack

Iowa is 13th in the Big Ten and 120th in the nation in total offense at 310.9 yards per game. The Hawkeyes are 103rd nationally in rushing offense at 116.6 yards per game.

That could be a problem in Saturday’s game at Wisconsin — the Badgers lead the nation in rushing defense at 53.3 yards per game.

Q. What will our coaches do?

Exactly, Wisky's main strength against one of Iowa's weakest parts of its team, our running game (which has several negative runs a game by the running backs and can have 20+ negative sack yards taken off the total).

I still think the best way to go at Wisky's run defense is to run quick hitting power runs right at them and try to have way more 3-4 yard gains than negative plays.

Wisky did the same thing a few games ago when their offense was not working, they went to running the ball 80%+ of their offensive plays.

Can the hawks slow down their run game which needs to happen and can Iowa actually run the ball enough to move some chains?

If I had to bet, after watching Brian the last few years, I say he will not try to beat his head against the wall. They are great against the run and we are not good at running. So, I expect a lot of shotgun and 3-wide with short passes and draws. I am not saying this is a good strategy, because it puts the game in Petras hands, but it may be the best of a lot of bad options.

This is going to be a rock fight, in a phone booth, with knives.....

Well which is it? A rock fight or a knife fight?
