Hawkeyes vs Indiana Final Series Thread

This is it, final games of the regular season and game 1 is TONIGHT. Instead of the usual Friday, Saturday, Sunday games they are starting Thursday and this is probably so teams can reset their pitchers for the conference tournament that starts next Wednesday.

Iowa still has a lot to play for. They are still in play for an at large bid in the regional tournament and they are tied with Illinois for 3rd in the Big Ten Standings. Iowa is only 2 games behind Rutgers and Maryland for first place and Rutgers plays at Michigan while Maryland plays at Purdue, so anything can still happen.

Indiana sits 10-11 in conference and they are playing for seeding as well. There are scenarios that exist to where they could get knocked out of the conference tournament (top 8 play) if they were to lose 2 of 3 to Iowa (or get swept) and Northwestern were to win 2 of 3 or sweep Minnesota. Nebraska could move past them as well but it would take Indiana getting swept and Nebraska sweeping MSU.

This game is unbelievable, Iowa fell behind 13-2 and have battled back and lead 18-14. They are still batting in the B6. Huckstorf has hit 3 home runs including a grand slam to lead the charge. He has 10 RBI’s.

I’ll be at the game tonight, we are taking our varsity baseball team out. Fireworks after the game and hopefully during the game.

Indiana did save their best pitcher for tonight. It appears they were conceding last night with Mazur pitching, they look stupid for doing that. Indiana needs 1 more win to clinch a spot in the conference tournament.

Now there is a 3 way tie for 2nd place with Rutgers and Illinois. Iowa owns the tiebreaker over Rutgers but not over Illinois. In a 3 way tie Rutgers owns the tiebreaker and Iowa ends up 4th. So we need Iowa to win and root for the Spartans to beat Illinois.

I don't follow collegiate baseball that closely, but I get the jokes. Will Iowa score more than 30 points twice this football season? It is a fair question.

After all the fireworks in the first 2 games they are in a pitchers dual tonight. Headed to the T8 and Iowa leads 2-1.

Evidently the DM Register reporter was wrong on the seedings. Iowa will be the 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. They will face Penn State on Wednesday at 9 am in Omaha.
