Hawkeyes to Test Atlanta in Football Recruiting Pursuits

“There are Hawkeyes in Atlanta to help,” Woods said of Iowa fans living in the South.

Sounds like a bunch of recruiting violations just waiting to happen. SEC teams can get away with it because it is so deeply engrained in the culture there. Iowa recruiting by fans is going to stand out much more starkly.

Just carving out territory in anticipation of the next round of conference expansions. Georgia Tech... You heard it here first, folks!

Oh, quit being a worry wart.

I agree with this. I think Delany wants GT, and the Atlanta market

Atlanta certainly is a melting pot. Old south and yankees galore.

Lol yes I'm sure Ferentz is sending out bags of cash.

I live in the Atlanta area and I can confirm that Woods' comments are accurate. If I'm wearing a hawkeye sweatshirt at the store, invariably someone will approach me and talk about being from Iowa. High school football is insane down here. The top teams have multiple (sometimes 10+) kids who will end up playing in Division I. Good players fall through the cracks. It's not inconceivable for Iowa to pick up someone occasionally.

I love this, I think it's a smart idea.

But, my only question is... is there another Big 10 team that recruits Atlanta?

He's right... Hawkeyes are everywhere in Atlanta. I rarely leave the house without seeing at least one Iowa license plate on the front of a car, truck or SUV.

As long as it. helps us win. I'm behind it 100%

You can't visit the men's room in a college athletic venue these days without having to read about potential booster violations. I don't like it, but that is the way it is. And I was surprised to read about a coach saying something that smacks of booster violations, even if he was just talking about HS coaches with connections to Iowa.

Can you have him ship a box to my house? I'll be sure MOST of it gets in the right hands. :). BigD and I've got the West side of Atlanta covered.

“One of the best things about Iowa is there are Hawkeyes everywhere,” he said. “I went on vacation to Costa Rica … first two people I see (are) wearing Iowa shirts and Iowa shorts.”

I've also noticed ISU grads when I am on vacation and I always try to leave them a tip. :)

I had an Iowa shirt on while staying one night at the YMCA in Jerusalem which is across the street from the King David Hotel. At breakfast there was a couple wearing Iowa shirts. Hawkeyes are everywhere.

It would be a real good thing if we can get our foot in the door in the Atlanta area
