Hawkeyes Haul In Georgia LB Jayden McDonald

I seem to remember Kirksey and Morris blitzing quite a bit their senior years (at least, relatively speaking). I could be wrong.
Yeah maybe. It must not have been a ton or I'd think i'd have remembered it more. It'd be nice if situationally we blitzed some more. Not just on the 3rd and longs either. Do it on random 1st and 2nd downs too. Where they are lined up in a passing formation maybe. Just be unpredictable more often is my thing

I don't think P Parker has had a LB as explosive as McDonald. When they have had elite DBs, they have played more tight man coverage. When they struggled to get pressure W the front 4, they used the Raider package. Even N Parker used Greenway some his senior year when they struggled to get pressure W the front 4. They stunt more W DL when they can't get pressure W front 4 They used AJE on 3rd and long this year. I think McDonald may just have a skill set P Parker hasn't had as DC.

Ehh.. KF believes in the system and not the situation...

See the previous post, number 23. If players aren't making the system successful (execution?), make changes to make the system successful. - That's the Iowa mantra -.

So, I guess Iowa does make situational changes to the game plan and rarely does so because of an athlete's skill set.. Also why Iowa doesn't get their fair share of highly-touted athletes.

Mebe Iowa will switch to a 3-4 to take advantage of McDonald's skill set?

There's a point where I think football is a mix of both. It's nice to have an identity and one that your players and coaches are all on the same page with. However each opponent/game/play are unique. Catching the other team unprepared for what your doing due to breaking a tendency (or not having any) just increases your success level I would think...
