Predicting Iowa players' draft position is incredibly difficult for me. I know one thing: I don't know anything.

I think I can say this safely; it's tough to get these right, but I know that HGF actually talks with people in the business and has been in that business. So I really enjoy reading his breakdowns.

Predicting the first 2 rounds is usually reasonable, but after that it gets very hard to know how teams have their needs/value charts set up. Even talking to people in the front offices for teams isn't going to get you concrete answers because of the dynamic nature of the draft. Contingency plans are the norm these days.

It becomes especially difficult when you have teams like the Bears who will draft no names from a college you've never heard of in round 3. I'm sooo happy that GM is gone now.

0/1 on my pick guesses. I knew I was in trouble when Floyd fell to Arizona. Was very surprised both the Chargers & Bears passed on Reiff though. They all clearly had come across this deep dive article on Reiff: Link

Lions get a starting OT at pick 23, good value for them.

Very very disappointed that the Bears passed on Reilly. Was stunned really. And then he slips to division rival Lions...adding to my angst. Bears reach for an undersized d-end from Boise who has rarely faced a tackle as good as Reiff? Every team in the NFC North knows the value of Hawks, cept the Bears, who avoid them like the plague....stinks.

I am with you in that I do want the Bears to draft a Hawk at some point. However they really could not take Reiff this year. You cannot take two RTs two years in a row in the 1st round. You really can't. You would have to hope to move one of them over to LT and you never know how that will work out.
I just don't think the Bears could really look at Reiff that seriously, strictly because they took Carimi in the 1st round last year. Was McClellen a good pick? I don't know. If they could have gotten a sure fire LT I would have said go for it, but it just doesn't sound like Reiff would work at LT, therefore they could not take him. To make matters worse though, it does suck that he ended up on the Lions, each year I am hating the Lions more and more.
