Hawk backs lack explosiveness

No doubt they try and recruit talented RB's, the Hawks haven't had many really fast guys (Freddie Russell, Tavian Banks(most explosive), Sed Shaw were pretty speedy) Plow horse backs Greene, Coker, Albert Young, Betts were all more explosive than Bullock or Weisman)

I think Young was fast when he came to Iowa and he was a top recruit as well. He just had too many injuries.

And he hardly sees the field. Why is that again?

Can anyone tell me why he doesn't at least return kickoffs? He'd take one or two to the house if given the opportunity.

In my opinion.... becuase he might get killed. He has taken some pretty hard shots on the WR screens when he is hit.

Of course the other thing is Ferentz isn't going to put somebody back there unless he knows he can trust them to not fumble. I'm not sure if Powell has even practiced the position and if he has, perhaps he has fumbled in practice or something that causes coach not to trust him in that spot.

It's not true that he hardly sees the field.

Just because someone is fast does not mean they are good returners.
