Yesterdays exhibition didn't leave me with a good feel. Keep your expectations low and you wont be disappointed.

I'll be disappointed with a bad record either way. Just as well enjoy high expectations while I still can. That's just me though.
 
OK... I'll jump in... I haven't looked at the schedule... frankly, I don't even know if this number will make sense based on the number of games actually on the schedule... but I think the Hawks win 26 games with at least 2 victories in the NCAA Tournament.

At this point its hard to tell how the rotations will work and how Iowa will react without Marble leading the way, especially late in close games. Not that Marble was always dominant in late games, but he was definitely the go-to guy for better or worse.


Attempting to break it down as a neutral fan, I see it this way:


Non conference
2 losses (Texas, @NC)
8 wins
3 coin flips (ISU, UNI, California)
~9.5 wins


Big 10
3 wins (Rutgers, NW, Illinois)
3 losses (@Ohio State, @Nebraska, @Wisconsin)
5 probable wins (@Purdue, Minnesota, @NW, @Penn State, Maryland)
7 coin flips (Nebraska, Michigan St, Wisconsin, Ohio State, @Michigan, @Indiana, @Minnesota)
~9.5 wins


Which would have the Hawkeyes right around 19-12 which I think is a pretty smart bet as a neutral observer of the Hawkeyes.


However, for some reason my rose colored glasses think the Hawkeyes are better off without Marble and McCabe and play more as a team and surprise some opponents with their depth. 22-9 (11-7). Key wins over ISU/OSU/Wisc/Neb/MN propels them to a 6 seed.

On a side note I think the Gophers are being overlooked this year. They won the NIT last year and only lost Austin Hollins.
 
My gut tells me 9-3 (9-9) for the hawks this year, but since I am a bit of a debbie downer I usually add 1 or 2 wins to the total and it ends up usually pretty close. So I'll say about 20 wins.

We'll see, I think the jury is still out on Pitino and supposedly Iowa State just destroyed them in their scrimmage.
 
I'm a little more optimistic than most. The non-con sets up well. I think that we beat ISU but lose 2/3 against UNC/Texas/Syr or Cal leaving us at 11-2 going into B1G play. Our first 6 games in conference is brutal but I believe that we should be able to get through that at 3-3. After that, the last 12 games set up pretty favorably. We should be able to be around 22-7 going into the conference tourney.

I could see that honestly. I just think that basically everything would have to break right for that to happen.

I'll call this one the "Kool-Aid" prediction...Is CHA magically rivaling Cameron Indoor or Phog Allen now?
 
Sorry I haven't posted yet. Spent the day in Iowa City today getting tests done. My prediction is 21-9 based on pre BIG tournament and not advancing in any other tournament. I think we'll split with the top teams this year. I am willing to adjust this higher if we take off and play well early. I don't think we'll be at less than 20 this year. Praying things all come together this year.
 
Possibly more than 20 wins but less than 22 wins. I just hope we bodyslam Boogers and Muchkin Stoop and Pay back Whoose's your mommasiers for messing up the late season game with their falling hot dogs. Go Hawks! I had enough of chickenS__t from those refs who by their sleight of theur hands accepting bribes from opposing teams. Play the real games !
 
I of course want to put a beating on the neanderthals from ISU with their fake degrees in building fire.
