Have we had a Western Michigan prediction thread yet?

I'd think Iowa would beat them by not as wide margin as NW, but then again, this team is down after three losses in a row.

Iowa can run the ball better than NW but uses a slower tempo. WMU is terrible against the run and injuries may big a bigger factor as well. Vegas has the line right on at 17.5 -- NW won by 21.

Hawks will get the ball about 12 times during the game. Since they don't have home run hitters, their scoring efficiency will depend a lot on field position. Asking Iowa to drive 70+ yards more than 3 times in a game is not realistic.

So 3 long drives 21 points max I'm not even sure about that.

Points on turnovers - shorter drives <70 yards 10 points

1 shorter drive 7 points

Thats 6 scores on 12 posessions

38 points max. MAX

going at it another way

4 regular scoring drives following a punt or K/O (that seems like a lot!!!!)
2 opportunites off of turn overs

6 scores /3 FG = 18 points - but really what are the odds of that?

Anyone know the number of consecutive plays Iowa has run this year without a penalty or Turnover?

So 2 FGs 3 TDs and we have 27 - your magic number !!!

Who doesn't find this a little distracting?

What are your thoughts on Bo Pelini and Gerry DiNardo?

Alright ladies and gents, this is how it will go down. We will pull out to a KF blow out before halftime with solid 10-0 score heading into the third quarter. After that KF goes into run the clock mode and we have two drives where it is 2 terrible runs and a third down pass going no where. WM scores a field goal and KF realizes he might have to score again before the day is over. This will be like pulling teeth but we will scrouge out another TD to roll the blow out to 17-3. Then 8 minutes into the fourth quarter they will score a TD because our safeties will get lost in coverage again. Score comes to 17-10. 3 minutes left in the fourth quarter we pull out a solid drive that ends with penalties and a field goal makes the score 20-10. Quickly in less than 2 minutes WM scores and the box score comes to 20-17 with less than a minute on the clock. They kick an onside kick and fail to recover.

You know, with a couple of more insightful posts like this and you could be a "HN Legend" around here before kickoff!

This. No way Iowa covers this spread.

Pretty good. I was going to say more 24-17 Hawks -- and will just to avoid copying this -- but honestly I think this is a likely prediction of how this game will play out.

You're really from the future and read this in Sunday's paper didn't you?

Can someone do an analysis of how many onsides have been attempted against Iowa in the past 10 years and the success rate of those and then post the success rate of onsides generally? Maybe we are okay at covering them and I'm just being a moron here, but I've seen liek 3 onside recovered against teams other than Iowa in my whole life and I swear I've seen Iowa give up more than 3.
