Have we crossed the rubicon with Kirks conservatism?

If anything KF is getting more aggressive. From playing for TD's instead of FG, to playing more aggresive blitzing Defense, to playing a backup QB as he might bring bigger plays to the table.

It seems that some fans are so locked into old criticisms, that they can't see when things are changing. Now is KF ever gonna be a river boat gambler? No of course not, but at the same time I think it is easy to see some more aggressive tendencies out of KF this year.

he is not trusting the FG kickers so that isn't exactly aggression....The only difference in agression is that he is going for it on 4th down instead of pooch punting.

Actually it's more complicated than that. Think: kids coached not to return punts. Kids coached to dive for the dirt rather than the end zone when they make an interception (poor Mabin got a tongue lashing). Think: Check down.

there was a strech of games when KMM wouldn't even field the punt....There were several punts that went an additional 10 or 20 yards because he was worried about muffing the kick.

IOWA NUMBER OF 3 AND OUT SERIES
UNI 3
BALL ST 2
ISU 3
PITT NONE
PURDUE 7

I admit I'm not sure what to make of this. So let me add this. Sokol's QB rating right now is 134.9 and Jake's is 129.5. So apparently long hair and talent is bad, while short hair and rigid coach conformity is good. Again, a conservative approach to choosing your offensive leader.

Except for 2002 I believe his offense has been offensive when compared to his defense. Amazing how many Hawstriches are blind to this, not to mention how it affects realistic goals like going 5-0.

"Hawkstriches"... I love it. Congrats, Alex. I think we have a term that will last the rest of KFz's tenure

Yes he has. Get yourself a chance to watch Iowa practice sessions. Then go back and rewatch Iowa's 5 games against 4 weak FBS squads and 1 FCS team. Take some NoDoz before attempting this.

it'll take something stronger than NoDoz to make it through that. Probably either crystal meth or cocaine.

Good point, OK4P. I, too, am worried about this.

I am also worried that Vlad Putin will crack down too hard on Syria and that Kentucky basketball will realize the error of their ways and begin recruiting three-star athletes that stay for four years.

I laughed

Iowa is 2-0 on the road with CJ. Iowa scores 40 against Purdue without all the drops and brain dead decisions not to take chip shot Field Goals. He bailed us out at Pitt.

Iowa is 2-1 at home with J.R. Iowa was VERY lucky not to be 0-3 after those home games. Our offense sucked horribly in those games.
Ball State and ISU defenses are about as bad as can be. UNI is average.

Points on the board is what counts.

This guy gets it

In the case of the end of the game at Purdue. Its 50/50 and neither option mattered. The hawks had this game sealed. So, I say, work on your redzone offense. - It needs it.

Eliminate the word "redzone", and that sentence becomes more accurate

No, ISU is better than Purdue. Purdue is that bad. ISU's rated like #67 and Purdue #112 on Sagarin. ISU would be about a 9 pt favorite against Purdue on a neutral field. They might be equal on defense but ISU's offense is definitely better.

Looks like Minny is winning the west this year. So glad we did so much with our 2014 cupcake schedule.

Hey, a good post from you. Who knew?

You saying you glad he wasn't returning them today?
