Uhhhh....did you watch the game vs Minnesota last week? This. Our defense has one substandard day (due to a lot of factors beyond anyone's control), and Phil Parker can't coach?

hit the nail right on the head. If Palmer accounts for 75% of their passing attack and after TJ got burnt big time, why in the heck didn’t Parker just man Moss up on him? Nothing against TJ but that is a ton to ask of a true freshman who hasn’t got a lot of reps at CB this season. Does Parker not trust Moss or is Parker to stubborn to make a change to his usual game plan4 turnovers, nebby with about 120 yards/17 points taking advantage of a 4th/5th string corner. Not having Dejean, Harris, Roberts can't be overstated.
The only slight critical thought is not immediately putting Moss on Palmer who accounts for 75% of their passing attack.
3 turnovers on Iowas side of the field, inside scoring zone, 3 busted coverages by 4th/5th string walk ons
And an OC running naked bootlegs straight into unblocked blitzes....before establishing a run game.
This is a 9-10 win defense. It's a 3 win offense.
What concerns me is how much we lose off the defense for next year....
must have missed the 250 plus rushing yards by Minnesota…Uhhhh....did you watch the game vs Minnesota last week?
curious on why Parker didn’t just man up Palmer with Moss. The guy is like 75% of their passing attack. To me it seems as if most Iowa coaches are the same. Have a set game plan and if things go sideways they just ride it out till half instead of making adjustments on the flyThank you. Very clearly stated facts. I was busy yelling at Parker about not adjusting. You changed my mind. (yes.I am serious.)
312 rushing yards to Minnesota.Iowa gave up the 87 yard pass. Outside of that, the scoring drives were:
3 plays for 39 yards which included a 15 yard penalty
7 plays 45 yards with a 10 yard penalty (after we fumbled)
3 plays 18 yards (after we fumbled)
51 yards rushing on 35 carries.
278 yards passing, which obviously includes the 87 yarder with their best guy against the true freshman. The only reason make the 87 yarder as an exception is because it doesn't mean any team has "figured out our defense". It's because he's young, inexperienced player that was thrown because of injuries to Roberts, Harris, and DeJean. Shit happens.
To me it looked like they adjusted to have Moss was always isolated on the field side and Hall was on the boundary and was supposed to have safety help. Nebby ran patterns so they could occupy the safety to keep Hall in one-on-one as much as possible.curious on why Parker didn’t just man up Palmer with Moss. Completely agree, they were able to run all over us, but Iowa only gave up 10 points. Also, 31 of those yards came inside Iowa's 30. The biggest problem with that would've been if the number of plays/time of possession would've worn out the defense, which it doesn't seem like it did. The philosophy is to make a team go the length of the field without being stopped by our defense, penalties, or turnovers. Minnesota did it twice and got 10 points.312 rushing yards to Minnesota.
The 3 games you are referring to are the games we are actually somebody so the defense shows it really isn’t as good as everyone thinks. Nor is iowa in generalWhat is baffling is how this team can be in the Top 10 in defenses most years. But have at least 3-4 games where they give up a ton of yards and points.
