I watched the Carroll-Harbaugh rivalry as a casual Seahawk fan out here in the PNW, and it was interesting to see Carroll evolve in his view of him. There was the weird running handshake after the game, when Harbaugh was all pumped up and like right in his face, and Carroll goes "what's your deal?!"
But Carroll came to appreciate him as a great football coach and seemed genuinely sad to see him leave San Fran. I think he enjoyed the rivalry.
I've kind of come around on Harbaugh too. I think he'd act the same and would be just as happy coaching a high school team. It's almost like he has a mild form of Asperger's. Like not always completely aware of how his actions impact others, a little awkward, but also an authentic guy who loves the games and loves to compete. He's a hell of a coach.
