Grow Up People!!!

I was looking at Ross's twitter account when I was shocked to see all negative comments by Hawkeye fans. This is exactly what Iowa doesn't need. It's pathetic to see idiots hustle a kid like that. People calling him a"traitor" is not going to keep him committed to Iowa.

I'm not part of the twitterverse, still holding out, so could you provide some links or screenshots possibly? So we can see some of these ridiculous comments. TIA.

This will be the point where they will say it started. The day where Littlesparky said grow up and all internet trolling ceased!

There is a lot of irony between the title of the thread and admitting to reading a high school kid's twitter account.

I don't have a problem with him getting an offer from Bama and considering or even accepting. Don't think he needs to act so happy about it. Hawk fans don't get commits from many 4 or 5 star recruits so some are a little sensitive.

If an 18-year old kid getting excited that he just got a scholarship offer from a school that's won three of the last four national championships can't get happy about that, what can he get happy about?

If my son got an offer from 'Bama I'd tell him to at least consider it or he's an idiot. Especially considering the state of our program right now. That's just reality.

This is true regardless of what program the offer came from. Athletics is only a part of the total equation for picking out a college. Many scholarship athletes have to factor in education programs and reputations as well.

i would tell him to consider it UNLESS he has already committed to another school. to me, you've made a commitment and need to honor the commitment. only way that changes is if the school you committed to changes coaches.

Why the heck not? That is awesome for him and he should be excited. Doesn't mean he'll act upon it. If I get a job offer from the best company out there (or have a potential for a raise (aka National championships)) over my current less glamorous job (no matter how much I love it) I would be happy to be appreciated. I think Iowa fans should be happy about this. Means Iowa is stealing one out from under the big boys for a change.

Look we need as many TOP kids as we can get...yes our roster won't be littered with 5 star recruits but we CERTAINLY need to keep the super talented ones like Piersbacher in the fold.....I don't care if your Ferentz cooks the family dinner 1x a week we need to remain SUPER engaged. If you don't get the recruits you can't even hope to remain competitive. If we aren't even competitive why pay Ferentz that salary. If we don't win at least 8 games he's going to Bama..another 4 game season won't keep him or me interested for much longer.

Seepig, just relax. I think you are getting worked up over nothing. This kid isn't going anywhere. Couple of questions...do we put linemen into the NFL on par with Alabama. Answer is yes. Where do you think Ross has a better chance of playing earlier in his career. Answer is Iowa. Which school is closer to home and one he has followed through his childhood and is a big fan? Answer is Iowa. Now the question about how the Hawkeye's do this year and whether that impacts his decision, that's a tougher question. I will tell you this, Iowa may go 6-6, although I obviously think the team is better than most realize (see signature). If we do go 6-6, it won't be because of the offensive line play...it will be because our QB couldn't get it done. Our offensive line is going to be impressive...big, nasty, and with something to prove. If I'm a prospect, I'm going to look at my unit and ask, 'can I see myself with some of the guys we will have coming back next year (Scherff, Donnal, Simmons, Blythe, Walsh, Ward, etc). There a comradery here...and it's a be like Mike kind of thing. Alabama doesn't have any of that going on with Ross right now. They are way behind on this one. I doubt he's going to 4-5 Alabama games this year either. Let's keep one hand on our nuts and one hand on the wheel. Ok.

I still expect him to be a Hawk. If he chooses to go elsewhere, well I'll be bummed, but he's gotta do what's right for him.

So if you want to keep a recruit don't chase him off before he has committed anywhere simple as that

Don't go calling him a traitor before he has made a decision.
