Gronowki's 4 interceptions this year

Watching this offense makes me realize if we just said eff it to pro style and had a dude with wheels the last decade we probably have a couple conference titles.

Yep. Give the Trey Lance types a shot at quarterback and see what happens.

Only 4 picks through 7 games is facially pretty good, but then you realize he only throws the ball about 12 times a game. In addition to the picks, he is wildly inaccurate on a lot of throws, especially early in the game and from the pocket. Lester is a great OC, but his early game scripting has left something to be desired. They need to run Gron early and get him some contact to calm him down, and any throws early should not be from the pocket. Ease him into the playbook with things he is good at.

Totally agree. Lester is a million times better OC than BF. That said, BF’s first 15 scripted plays would work better for Gronowski.

This was Gronowski's most effective first quarter with two sustained drives. He was 5 of 8 passing for 71 yards and 6 rushing carries for 18 yards and 1 touchdown, no interceptions, no sacks. The first drive had 3 first down passes and a rushing TD. The second drive had one first down run and two first down passes. The score benefited from a defensive touchdown near the end of the quarter.

The second quarter started off with a productive drive opening with an 8-yard Gronowski run and finishing with a 29-yard pass to the endzone. At the end of the next Minnesota drive Wetjen took the return to the house, to put Iowa up 31 to 0.

From this point forward, Ferentz leaned heavily on the running and position game. Iowa's defense didn't allow Minnesota back into the game.
