Groce Can Recruit

He just landed a verbal from Quentin Snider, only a few days after securing Leron Black's commitment. The B1G aint getting any easier and I think its awesome. If Starks doesnt get his waiver to play this year the Illini are sitting at 15 scholarship players for the 2014-15 season. They will have to Crean 2 players to get to 13 and Cliff Alexander just announced hes taking an official to Champaign at the end of October.

If Groce lands Alexander he will somehow have to free up 3 scholarships as that will put them at 16 for the 2014-15 season.

Ehh..not quite feeling the same way. Illinois is bringing in a lot of talent and for them to move up in the B10, someone has to move down. I think this would be a good year for Fran to hold a couple scholarships for the spring and go hard after a few transfers. We need to keep up with the talent coming into the conference at other schools.

I know what you are saying but I love the fact that Iowa will be playing in the premier basketball conference.

Minny will have a tough time getting out of the cellar, IMO.

It makes it a lot harder for Collins at NU to move up.

Purdue doesnt do much for me going forward.

Crean is whiffing a little bit in 2014 recruiting.

Iowa needs to keep adding talent though, which is what you said.

I get the feeling that Fran feels he can legitimately field a team at Iowa that could make it to the championship game. Doing that is altogether different. But I get a sense that that is wha he is selling. That can be a powrful recruiting stance, if done by the right person. I believe Fran is the right person. Again, I am only talking about the recruiting message and the ability to sell that message. The future does, indeed, look bright and exciting.

Wait, I thought only the SEC oversigned?

True except for Bruce Weber. Hopefully Groce is a guy who can lockdown Chicago and keep the Kansas's and Duke's of the world out. If he can do that and prove to be a good coach look out.

Oh silly Illini fans and their dreams of locking down Chicago. LOL

I always love the Chicago comments when it comes to Illinois recruiting. You would swear Champaign is located near Naperville.
