Greg Davis Transcript from 3/5

[/B]

I do not understand this notion. KOK was a wide receivers coach when he arrived at Iowa...it was his specialty.
Greg Davis is a QB coach,and OC...always.
So,Philbin hired KOK to be his wide receivers coach at Miami...that surprises you?

Wait..What?
KOK was a wide rec coach when he arrived at Iowa? I dont think so. He was HC at Alleghany(sp?) and then HC at Fordham for 2 years before KF came calling in 99.

And didn't Philbin play for KOK in college and then GA for him or with him?

He probably feels pretty comfortable with Ken. It doesn't bother me that Joe picked Ken.

I only heard QBs. Maybe I'm one of the knuckleheads. :D

Maybe. ;)

I think there was a lot of message board pundits speculating on him going there as QB coach based on presumption, but like I said, all I ever read officially was that he would go there to coach WR's.

I know BHGP did an article when he left talking specifically about his achievements at Iowa with QB development, so maybe that helped build the bridge in peoples minds that he would transition as QB coach...who knows.

Then again, maybe I missed an errant report that he was going to fill that role that caused confusion.

1. So now we have a OC who is much better than the DC....at meeting the press. A complete reversal compared to the previous staff when Norm usually pasted the floor with Ken.

2. Very very very very annoying to note that Philbin apparently passed on GD for the KOK.

I always enjoyed KOK taking the mic. He could ramble a bit, and Norm is a one of a kind story teller, but Ken was good to speak with. I also see nothing wrong with Phil. He has been around Ft Kinnick for 13 years, so he is a little more conditioned ;)

Well he didn't do a very good impression of KF in his first presser. It wasn't about being reserved, it was about disfluencies and such. KF is a master.

Agreed. But I will gladly embrace a DC even if he articulates like Katzenmoyer, as long as he can put out top-10 scoring Ds more often than not.

Ken did have this engaging professorial thing going when he spoke. But all in all, he was like many professors at Iowa -- who cultivated the trappings of erudition but never went further.

Phil on the other hand, despite hanging around Norm and the Capt for 13 years, is completely oblivious to every aspect of conversational sophistication. We can safely assume that he isn't about to improve.

Who gives a s hit?

He is here to coach football, not run for president.

With that said, I love reading Fran's pressers. They're gold.

No not too much. You're right though, complete opposite of Kirk. Gotta love how candid Fran is. I was at Carlos during the Hawk Talk on Monday. More gold.

I think that was on the radio. Caught part of it. I like Fran, not overly critical of him too much, but he talks too much for me. Not going to complain though because the basketball program needs some life.
