Great Ricky Stanzi read-

Yes it is a great read. I would just like to highlight the stats Ricky had on the deep ball. Some posters on here seem to think Ricky throws an inaccurate deep ball. Those stats show they are wrong.

I've read so many people blame Saturdays loss on the defense.

What about 1st and 10 from the Wisconsin 26 with 8 minutes to go? Four yards on 3 plays? A touchdown would have likely put the game out of reach.

What about a full minute remaining with 3 timeouts? Taking a sack?

The offense had plenty of opportunity to win the game for Iowa last Saturday. I made a comment about Stanzi last week after he won POW and was called stupid. Considering the source I wasn't terribly insulted but I would encourage those who want a good analysis to read the posts by Gamefilm on the Scout site. Read this weeks and last weeks.

No offense, but if you think Stanzi or the offense was the problem, then yes, you are stupid.

The offense scored 30 points. At home, that should be more than enough. Do you even realize it's been 8 years since we lost a home game that we scored more than 30 points in?

If we can't win a game when the offense scores 30 points at home, then the defense is the problem.

Another football genius...

The defensive and offensive units don't play a separate game. I'm sorry that you're too dense to understand that not sustaining drives has an effect on the defensive unit. It's called ball control. That is why they track time of possession. (see Michigan game, genius)

To proclaim that Stanzi is the messiah and is incapable of poor play because of his stat sheet is pure idiocy and homerism.

Do you just type because you like reading your own words or are you capable of rational thought? Maybe you should engage your brain before you insult somebody.

I'm sure we could hold Arkansas or Oregon to 30......or maybe we would just have to forfeit.

Oh wait......you mean, there is no limit on how much WE can score? Oh......jeeez...guess that changes things. I thought we could only score 30 points.

There have been 2 losses this year and in both those losses the defense gave up long sustained drives that resulted in TD's late in the 4th quarter. That's not good.

Nope, not good, but neither is playing your 4th string, true freshman, 205 pound, middle linebacker.

Our defense isn't going to shut down every offense, especially not with our d-coordinator in the hospital.

I was hopeful for this season because of our returning skill players on offense. I expected them to be able to sometimes carry the team. They failed to do so last week and deserve partial ( not all, partial) blame. (the last two drives were pathetic ) You certainly can't blame the offensive line.

maybe we could put ricky in on punt coverage and kickoffs or make him the snapper on extra points. putting the blame for that loss on ricky is rediculous. give me a break.

So he played the perfect game then? Just to be clear...he deserves NO blame? Just trying to understand your position. Did you grade out the film? That must have been an unbelievable grade...

you know what, you're right. rick did not play a perfect game, he could have done a few things better and i agree with you that we can't put it on the defense. it's just hard for me to single out one guy, and i know you didn't really do that, but don't you think when rick and the offense stumbles a little it might be because the reigns are being pulled back? Rick has proven this year that he can play a wide open style of football, but yet again, get a little cushion and they play awat from his and the offenses strengths. that's the way i see it, and i don't want to dwell on losses to the point of watching replays and film. I'm really not sure why you are all about throwing Stanzi under the bus here. If you are really set in assigning blame for this loss, I would think that Stanzi and the offense would be a distant 4th behind Special Teams, the Defense, and the Coaching Staff (not necessarily in that order).

Did Stanzi make mistakes? Of course. He is human. I'm not sure what the hell you expect out of him. For the most part, the offense did its job well.

It was a frustrating loss. They win as a TEAM and they lose as a TEAM. I'm sure that every player/coach/unit can find things to improve. Nobody played the perfect game.

I really am NOT trying to throw him under the bus, just trying to get people to understand exactly what you said. It IS a team loss. I've just gotten tired of people acting like Ricky is above reproach and insulting ME because I've pointed out some errors.

I'd also encourage you and anyone else to read gamefilm's posts. They are enlightening.

I'll do that. Thanks

I'm sorry if I mistook the intent of your post. I guess I don't really pay attention to where people are insulting you for saying that Stanzi is not perfect or that this was a team loss. If that was your point, then I am right there with you.

Of course Stanzi is not above reproach. For the most part, though, he has had a very good year and it is obvious that he has spent time in the film room. He isn't perfect, but I don't think there is another QB in college football right now that I would rather have.

I do read gamefilm's posts. It is about the only reason that I go over to TOS.

You're accusing ME of liking to read my own words? Holy crap, that's priceless.

Just so I've got this straight......You think that a QB that completed 65% of his passes for 250 yards, 3 tds, and 0 interceptions and engineered an offense that gained nearly 400 yards of offense and put 30 points on the board is to blame over a unit that gave up 31 points, most of which were on long, sustained drives, which is apparent in the fact they had over 20 first downs?

And you want to talk to me about engaging my brain? You don't watch a lot of football do you.....wait, let me rephrase that.....you don't watch a lot of football outside of your NCAA Football PS3 online games, do you?
