People on this message board are bipolar. You knew this is what you were going to get going into the season.
only because this team seems bipolar this yearPeople on this message board are bipolar. You knew this is what you were going to get going into the season.

My thoughts:
OSU is still searching after losing Diopp. A 6-8 guy with a long wingspan would definitely have changed some of the 3 point shooting.
In my coaching experience I have seen this before. The star player is out and the others are forced to pick it up. With Jok the offense is about getting him the ball. Without out him there was far less 1/2 offense. This effort reminded me of Fran's best games in the past with White. Get out and run. Uhl and Cook are made for that type of game. JB is likely never going to be a 1/2 court guard, but he hits open guys on the run or open spot to break down the defense very well. Guys who have struggled in the 1/2 do much better when having space on the run eve if not fast.
OSU would have been in serious trouble if not for their athleticism. They made some nice 1 on 1 shots, but struggled to get open clear looks as Iowa used the bench very well.
It seems to me that FM has made a team to run. They don't run as much with Jok. Will be interesting what happens when he's back. Can he fit it?
The other part is that teams will not be blindsided by this Iowa style next time.
Interesting perspective here especially from somebody with coaching experience. Jok seems the x-factor going forward. Fran can't sit him once his back recovers but we play better without him and did in the Maryland game too. Would Peter accept a role playing situational minutes? Maybe as he seems like a team oriented guy. His future professionally depends on the work he does after he leaves Iowa in camps and such IMO.
So don't watch. I enjoy watching this team. I have zero doubt they are improving, have a ton of talent on the roster and will compete for top 3 or 4 finishes for the foreseeable future. If you don't see the potential you don't know a thing about basketball IMO.Disagree.
OSU just isn't good, and they definitely didn't show up last night.
And no, not everyone played hard. Iowa half asses it on D as always, surely you notice.
Example - After Wagner's brick at the end of the 1st half, he lollygagged down the court at got out hustled at the other end.
Total inexcusable.
Do that on a team with a coach who stresses D and you're gonna get chewed out big time.
But you say "Be happy, we won"?
Sure, we won. But we'll lose more, many more because of our zone D which is probably the worst D I've ever seen.
Until that changes, it's hard to get excited.
I watched the replay of this game. Yes, you're right that the D is still slow. Guys are constantly getting to shooters late, leaving them vulnerable to the drive. But it is slowly getting better. The delays are getting shorter. One guy who's going to watch a lot of film this offseason is Cook. He's too talented not to be a good defender if he just puts in the effort.Disagree.
