Great deal for you potential FB season Tix holders

Well, let's be honest here. The ONLY reason season ticket prices are being reduced is because the 2023 season offers up arguably the least interesting slate of home games I can remember in the last 10+ years, and probably longer. Even if the Hawks start the season in the Top 25, it was going to be hard to sell out some of these games. No Iowa St., no Ohio St., Michigan, Penn St., Wisconsin, or Nebraska.

I will stay with the idea that we have to win all home games and steal some on the road. So, our home schedule is favorable. Needless to say, God willing and the creek don’t rise, I will enjoy every game in Kinnick.

Anyone know what’s the reason we never have a high profile out of conference game? Does nobody want to come here?

What, you don't consider Pittsburgh high-profile? Ha.
Ever since the BTen went to a 9-game schedule (and probably before) Iowa has always tried to schedule 2 sure wins in the non-conference, + the Iowa St. game. I don't see that changing in the near future -- there's no real incentive to when you play in the BTen or SEC. Altho with the SEC playing only 8 conference games, it's certainly a reasonable argument to EXPECT them to play more high profile out-of-conference games.

Take a look at all of the Power 5 Conferences‘ early season schedules. Try Georgia, for example. Take a peak at their non conf. schedule. Remember SEC mid season cupcake parade? At least we have a power five ISU every year.

$10-$25 reduction for the season
No word on whether the "excise tax" is being reduced
Also no word on the $10 food-vouchers returning ;)
Anyone standing in line for 45 minutes to pay $24 for a shitty hot dog, popcorn, and fountain soda is an idiot and deserves to lose $24. It’s like Darwinism applied to money.

If you get concessions at Kinnick you’re basically losing an entire quarter of a game you probably paid $60 to see, so you really paid $39 for that shit hotdog and watered down soda.

But hey....you can drink slightly over priced beer...legally.

The secret is to be antisocial and chill in your seat with your pretzel and hotdog and cup of cheese five minutes after the gates open and watch the warmups while listening to some of the worst music human ingenuity has ever created. Not that I’m speaking from experience or anything.

I wonder if part of this is they aren't going to really make any changes in the offense. Maybe they are trying to cushion the blow and try to keep season ticket holders. That would be a typical Iowa sports maneuver.

Yeah, it would have been funnier if they would have announced it a couple days after informing fans that Brian was going to continue on as OCoordinator!

It is possible to play a more high profile out of conference opponent and also play Iowa State every year but it would require Iowa to give up 1 home game every other year. 7 home games one year, then 6 home games the next year.

Even if you could get the fans to agree that's what they wanted, you would never get the coaches to agree. Truth is the only thing that will force Iowa to upgrade its schedule is if the Big Ten signs a TV contract that forces Big Ten teams to upgrade.

7 home games a must do. Like it or not, ISU is a Power 5 opponent. 2 cupcakes a year, given a 9 game conference schedule, seems about right to me, and I pay for two season ticks and a Golden Hawk spot.

Yes, I am guessing many fans are split on this. I actually I would like to see 10 conference opponents and 12 P5 opponents total each year, which means only 6 home games a year. But I will concede that I probably don't represent the majority of fans.

12 P5 opponents total each year
Why in gods name would you do something like that when no other schools do it? That would be completely ridiculous to give up 2 pretty much guaranteed wins every year when virtually every school out there schedules 2 G5 or FBS teams?

Strength of Schedule comes into play a lot IMO for the selection committee....all things being equal.

With the coming advent of the 12 (or more)-team playoff structure, it's not going to be *as* important as there is going to be a lot more wriggle room as to who makes it and who is relegated to Nashville....

Still not a reason to beat your team up. Those games are also worth a lot more than just wins. They’re an opportunity to work any kinks out and get dialed in. And Iowa sure as hell doesn’t ever have to worry about the selection committee. It’s OSU and maybe a little bit of Michigan from here on out no matter who makes the title game.
