Graduation rules

I read that the NCAA is changing the number of athletics that must graduate. Will Kentucky and other teams like them change or will they find away around it?

They were talking about this yesterday on the radio...I believe it was on Murph and Andy and surprisingly, Kentucky would be eligible this year even if that rule was in place a year early...but to your point, it will be interesting to see if they can keep it up...I'm sure they can find a scholly or 5 or 6 for those guys at the end of the bench who will see no PT for 4 years and still keep 6 or 7 open for the high caliber guys they let walk through the program for a year.

I am incredulous that kentucky could meet any graduation test with the number of one and done or two and done guys they have had since Cal arrived.
His first class, with John Wall and co...they had 5 frosh go to the NBA.
Next class, they had Brandon Knight,Liggins and I believe at least two other go to the NBA.
This class, they will have Jones,Davis,Gilchrist, and maybe Teague and Lamb.

That would be at minimum 14 guys in his first three years at KY who did not graduate. I wonder if they have 2-3 guys graduating each year to offset that number? If you graduate 40% do you make the standard? Over time it has to catch up to him. He is not bringing in anybody in his three years that will actually graduate, that I can recall. He only brings in blue-chippers who do not stay. At some point he has to pay, I hope.

I find it funny how Calipari has Kentucky fans and even former players jedi-mindtricked...saying last year that Kentucky getting 5 guys drafted in the first round was the greatest day in the history of Kentucky basketball and then Rex Chapman saying that Anthony Davis is the best player ever at Kentucky...shouldn't that be based on a career and not a single season? People had the audacity to say that Iowa fans will forget Matt Gatens' 4 years at Iowa when it's more likely that Kentucky fans will forget most of their recent players who stop by for a cup of coffee.

And yes, "win at all costs guys", I'm well aware that they'll think it's all worth it, if they win this one title...

Kentucky to me is pretty much the same as Cincy was with Huggins, or Richardson was with Arkansas. It's the NBA minor leauges. I would have to think it will bite UK at some point. Calipari knows when to move and will probably take a pro job making millions leaving the institution to fend for themselves. Could be jealousy on my part, but I hardly think their program is an institution for bettering "student athletes."

If only Iowa had this problem...
