Grades from osu last night

Let me say this first, I had a very hard time watching those kids last night knowing that was the last time we will see most of them at Carver!! It saddens me a bit to know that but it was fun while it lasted. I will follow this group to Michigan & Ohmaha this year and have a blast doing it!!! This is a SPECIAL group and I for one whill do whatever I can to support them!!! Now on my grades.

125: McDonough gets a A, While he is not "flassy" or "overpowerfull" he just gets the job done. I honestly feel he will be the closest kid to Metcalf we will see!!! I can't wait to see how he does against Escobedo in a few weeks!!!

133: Dennis gets a B-/Ct, Grade sounds a bit harsh but he still has some stuff to work on. It was close because he allowed it to be. He used to be more relentless but now is more methodical. There is nothing wrong with that, I just hope it does not burn him in the long run.

141: Marion gets a C, Humphrey is a stud and Marion wrestled a Humphrey style match. He needs to use his quickness more and stay away from the power against guys like this. I have no doubt he will get better and learn from this. I still believe he can be a National Champ and for those who doubt him I feel for you. I will say just wait and see you will soon realize what I have known all along!!!

149: Metcalf gets a B, Close match that Palmer will always do everything he can to make this a close match and try to steal it in the end. But he will fail and don't count on that being a finals match at Big Tens or Nationals.

157: Janssen gets a solid B, If he didn't give up that first takedown I might have given him a A, but I just can't. I really wish his feet work was better. I don't know what to think of him sometimes. He broke the Nemac last night and dominated him after the giving up that first takedown. I personally don't know who the guy is here, at times I feel like Kerr is the guy but last night Aaron really made a case for himself.

165: Star gets a B, While it was a 1-0 match he did get the job done on #6 last night. Once again Ryan is not going to dominate a lot of wrestlers but he finds a way to win. Howe on Sunday will tell a lot about if Ryan can get it done or not.

174: Jaybo gets a A, I feel sorry for anybody that has to wrestle him. He is a man on a mission!!! He just is so amazing, he is amazing, yes I said it twice but I just don't know how else to describe him!!!

184: Keddy gets a A-, YES!!!! He got it done!!! He NEEDED this!!! He wrestled a great match and proved he is not done yet. I am guessing he gets the 3 seed at the Big Ten's and he can really help himself for Nationals if he wrestles like that last night. He can still make a run at it guys.

197: Lofthouse gets a solid A, Great match!!! Every time he steps out there it helps him!! I can't wait for next year to see how this helps him!!! Chad is close and WILL be ready for Big Tens and look for him to win it!!! He REALLY wants to wrestle and I can't wait to see him!!

Hwt: Danimal gets a A, He really took it to Morrison, the most emotional wrestler got a fall on senior night!!! I think we are looking at a National champ here guys! He is getting stronger everytime out and I look for special things out of him down the road. Bring on Everhart and after he beats him at the Big Tens he could earn the #2 seed in Ohmaha!!!

I had opportunities to talk with Chad,Star,Keddy,Metcalf,Janssen,Jaybo & Danimal. I told all the seniors THANK-YOU and they are a special group of kids! I can tell you they are not happy and have high expectations!!!!! I also talked with Marion's dad and we both know Montel has more to show us and he WILL!!!!!!

Tobini-Clarification. Are you saying you think Marion will win NC this year or in the future? I'm thinking next year or year after would be more likely. This year could be AA almost anywhere on the stand, but NC this year is a real stretch don't ya think!

Hooper, I am guessing Tobini meant they are not satisfied.

As far as the grades, I always enjoy reading them! Last night was a great night. I was very happy to see Humphries come out for OSU! I think Montell will benefit greatly from his experience last night. Humphries is outstanding, but I think with a little change in strategy and that is a much closer match. I was wondering if Ryan didn't want to start at 25 to give Humphries a little more time to recover? He was gassed in the 3rd, but I don't know if that was because of the injury. He did look big for a 41 lber I thought. Anyways, I wouldn't count Montell out against him.

By the way, to the ******* sitting near the student section obnoxiously cheering for Humphries because you think you are friends with Leclere, you are an embarrassment, and I am sure Dan would tell you that if he knew what you were doing.

As far as Metcalf/Palmer, I hope I never have to watch these two wrestle again. Not because I have any doubt that Metcalf would win, but because I just hate watching Palmer wrestle. Hang on, block off, and repeat. Hopefully he gets bounced early in Ann Arbor and Omaha.

As far as the other guys go, I don't know if I have much new to add. Let's go get a W in Madison and start getting ready for Ann Arbor! I can't wait to see Chad back out on the mat, even though I have been so impressed by how much Lofthouse has improved!

Anyways guys, some friends and I are making our first ever trip to nationals in a few weeks. Hope to share a beer or two with you guys and celebrate a Hawkeye national title!

Was it just me, or did every OSU wrestler look much bigger? Reminded me of the Minnesota team a few years back that just looked a lot bigger than the Iowa wrestlers.

They looked to me like their arms were bigger but there legs were smaller. Just shows that skill can outdo muscle.

Ok, just a few clarifications for you guys, I meant that I still feel Marion can be a national champ this year and years to come. He is close guys and he will only get better!!!
As for not happy maybe I should have said not satisfied, they have HUGE goals & expectations!!!!!
