Grad Transfers - RB’s

Under normal circumstances, yeah, I think having to rely upon grad transfers at one position would be a concern, but, when looked at in the context of losing both Bryan and Toks due to injuries, I think most recruits would understand. If both of those players were 100% healthy, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Either way, at Iowa, there is no such thing as having too much depth at RB.
Is Bryan still hurt? I thought he was good to go for fall. But I could have easily missed something with him. Toks it sounds like is done but it's pretty hush hush whatever it is he's dealing with. Kinda surprised it hasn't leaked out whatever it is he's got going on. But still we have Geil and Evans coming in as well this fall. If Bryan is good to go without anyone else getting hurt that should get us through the year

I don't think he's still hurt per se, but he lost weight and strength, and is trying to work his way back into game shape. He's a bit of an unknown at this point, which probably is what's making Kirk a little nervous.

I agree with the thought that we don't necessarily need a grad transfer. My point was more about whether bringing one in two years in a row would adversely affect recruiting, which, I don't think it would when you take into consideration the injuries to our depth.

That said, if a solid grad transfer became available, it certainly wouldn't hurt to bring him in given our history at the position.

Geil has no experience, but he has some ability and size.
Best idea is to stomp people early and have plenty of mop up duty for some guys to gain some valuable pt.
I would say early pt is definitely an option.

Good Lord, some schools have LIVED on grad transfers at certain positions. QB seems to be the position-du-jour, but as long as some schools have the wealth, those schools will have guys that decide, after a year or two, that riding pine is not for them. So, they become grad transfers or regular old transfer, sitting a season or not. "Not" also seems to be getting more common, as certain colleges move toward supporting transfer-as-free-agency (not sure how ANY school that isn't a blueblood would support this).

Kirk said he might add a grad transfer at RB. Here’s some interesting candidates that I had found.

C.J. Fuller-Clemson
Terence Williams-Baylor
Jeremy Smith-Louisville
Demarcus Felton-Texas Tech

Feel free to add any names that any of you may have heard.
Ok, looks like BEATHHARDTEAMS is back. I hope you've learned your lesson and will up your troll game tenfold. This post a decent start. But I'm watching you...

Definitely trolling to get a feel about our rb's.
But it could be a recruit or their parents or coach, so I play honest and nice

Bryan played quite a bit in the spring scrimmage. I thought he had a very nice burst. Now there's been many players who looked good in the spring who didn't play a lot in the fall but he at least looks the part. I am excited to see what he can bring.

I’ll sleep better at night just knowing you are keeping an eye out for trollers. Just don’t let your paranoia get the best of you! I am neither BEATHARDSTEAMS, a recruit, nor a recruits parent. I’m 61 yrs old and a lifelong hawk fan! I’m not even sure if I can even recognize a troll when I see or hear one! I’ll let you guys call out the trolls. But if you are trying to make me into one of your trolls just because I make a post, looking for an honest answer, well, I’m afraid you’re barking up the wrong tree. In fact, by calling me out as troll just tells me you guys probably don’t really know what a troll is either. Good luck with that!

Lol, I just said you were trolling for answers. I don't have a problem with that.
We have talent, a bit of talent. Young and little experience. That pretty much sums it up.
We are going to have to bring more in and get that room fired up so we can go into next year with a much better idea and some depth. I would expect to see several ball carriers this year if we can get ahead and provide mop up time.
That's about all there is to know

I’ve seen what Toren Young and Ivory Kelly-Martin can do, they just need more reps and hopefully can remain healthy. I’m interested in seeing what Keyshaun Bryan brings to the table. Wasn’t he on a Florida State Championship Team? I’d like for Geil and Evans to take redshirts if we can remain healthy at the RB spot. Then there’s also Tracy, who could play RB in a pinch. That’s 6 that are possibilities if it comes down to it.

I think Geil is going to be tough to keep off the field if he sets his mind to it. It is maybe a good idea to rs, but we need a clear #3 back and we don't have that going into summer. Who will that be???
Who's #4? So I'm looking at how the depth shakes out. Because they will play 3&4 this year. Maybe just in mop up (hopefully, because that means we are staying healthy) or special teams, but they will play and we have no idea who that will be as of now.
IKM could be good, really good, from what little I've seen, but so could Toren. I think they knew this was their year to step up, so I would hope they have and will.

It would appear Toks is either finished with football or, at best, out for a while. Between Young and IKM I think we have two really good backs, and Bryan and Harrell both looked decent in spring "scrimmage".

What concerns me more is what happens to our running game if we completely lack a passing game?
