Gottlieb just said "Iowa very much in play still"

Well at least New Mexico will be in again, loving watching Alford coach in the dance. Great to have some type of Iowa rooting interest still left.

Alford has turned into be a great coach. Too bad some fans decided to run him out of town.

Alford is a successful Mid Major coach. I do not believe we would be any better off today with Alford then we are with Fran. Alford probably would not have gotten Woodbury and Gessell.

He was better than Lick but nowhere near Fran IMO...so we made a 3 year mistake before we got it right. I'm just glad we did ultimately get it right. There will be a lot of payback next year in the conference season. None of our players or coaches will be forgetting this season or the lessons learned anytime soon.

Seeing guys that use hair die and too much hair gel is a dead give away for identifying a di(k. With die added to equation, it looks like he hasn't shook the egocentric persona. And, watching this conf tourney....what crappy BB

Funny, I didn't realize it was the fans who gave Alford the "win or else" ultimatum. I was thinking that was Gary Barta, and then Alford turned tail and ran to the desert before he got fired. But maybe my memory fails me.

Besides, you do realize that Alford doesn't have near the schedule to play agains in the Mountain West as he does in the Big Ten, right? It's no wonder he's winning a few more games... He's in a good spot (not in the Big Ten).

As for Alford being a "great coach", get back to me when he wins more than a single post-season game, or better yet, makes a run to the Elite 8 or beyond. He's yet to do that at New Mexico, by the way (and that includes the NIT).

Gottlieb coins a new word ...

Iowa got "teddyvalentined" yesterday

I've always despised Ted Valentine since 1997 or 1998 in an Indiana home game against Purdue when he T'ed up Bob Knight for coming out on the floor to check on one of his injured players, and then stood there with an "I don't give a F$#!" look on his face afterwards.

Gottlieb asking the commissioner about RPI, Ken Pom, etc.

"I look at RPI, Sagarin and Ken Pom, especially when there is a difference of 20 or more. "

Iowa sits at a 30 Ken Pom and 76 RPI.

Well that is encouraging. I'm still not getting my hopes up, but I will be tuned in to watch the selection show tomorrow, not expecting anything, but in case Iowa's name gets called. Anyway, I've had as much of this NCAA/bubble talk as I can stomach, so I'm outta here for the night.

The General, Robert Montgomery Knight should have decked him, or smashed a chair over his huge head.....

I read an old thread on here that stated Valentine has his fave coaches, like Coach K, Izzo, etc.
If Sparty is in bed with Valentine it showed last night.
