Good win for sure and tough schedule ahead

Perhaps...but have you been to Eugene? Rainy, windy weather is what they live in pretty much year round. Agreed, tho, would certainly not hope for a sunny, calm day.
Yes they do but the cold and rain or snow usually slows down a passing attack. We don't have one so wouldn't affect us much. My daughter lived near Seattle for years and it surely doesn't get as cold there as in Iowa City. We need a cold wave.

Did he run this much at his previous stop? I thought he was presented as a passing QB.

Gronowski had 385 carries for 1767 yards at SDSU, for 4.6 ypc. and 37 rushing TD.

He was presented a dual threat QB when we landed him.

Right. It can't simply be about playing in the wind and rain. We need the extra element of the cold in which a QB can't feel his fingers. When trying to throw a ball that brings it to a whole new difficulty level.

The two most challenging games left to play are next Oregon @home and USC away. Nothing matters if Iowa loses to Oregon. The loss to ISU kind of sealed the season. Iowa has two weeks to prepare for Oregon. So does Oregon have two weeks to prepare. There are too many IFs when the next game is the first IF to be played.

Iowa doesn't control it's own destiny unfortunately.

1) If Michigan beats OSU obviously they're in. That game is totally unpredictable.

2) Even if Iowa wins out and Michigan only loses to OSU, Michigan is still in. Their only losses are to Oklahoma and USC, and the ISU loss is going to be too much of a strike against the Hawks. Especially with ISU turning into a tire fire.

One can argue all one wants about Iowa having a better conference record at that point, but zero chance the committee puts Iowa in in front of a Michigan team with 3 losses to Oklahoma, USC, and OSU. The TV viewership comes along with Michigan and they aren't going to give that up unless Michigan lays a major egg and drops one of their next three plus Ohio State. Ain't gonna happen IMO.

Much of the sentiment, it's fun to talk about but in all reality, I would love for us to win and even if we don't make it, that's a helluva season with how we played early on. I would love to see this team continue to grow and get better each week. Let's get there first. Win out and we can argue on here all we want.

I'm looking at next year with a whole lot of trepidation.

Next season is 100% going to be dependent on who they get at QB from the portal. It ain't Hecklinski. He might be a good backup but let's face it, a guy smaller than Russell Wilson isn't gooing to cut it and Iowa is already looking at who might be available. Kirk and Lester have already said multiple times they're always looking because that's the reality of college football today.

The stretch we've had for the last 9 years has shown that if you want to be even remotely threatening to the playoffs, it's a requirement that you have a really good QB who can throw, run if he needs to, and most importantly has a killer instinct. I know some of you guys out there are huge Petras and Stanley fan boys and they're great dudes, but they never had the backbone to play B1G quarterback and be at the level it takes.

Phil will always be Phil as long as he's here, but at the end of the day if you don't have a capable general on the field, middle of the conference is your ceiling.

Even if we beat Oregon, I doubt we go undefeated through the last three games. But beating Oregon would be awesome and a huge jump start to the final games.

If we go 10-2 I believe we will be in the playoffs. I just don't think that will happen. I would love to be wrong!

A 10-2 Iowa will make it over a 9-3 Michigan without question. I think Oklahoma might look a lot like ISU by the end of the year too. If Iowa wins out (and that's a big if) then they will be the 3rd or 4th team from B10 in the playoffs. I also think USC has two more losses in that schedule. Either way, there is definitely some excitement and hope we haven't seen for a few seasons to finish out the year. I think Iowa controls their own destiny in the sense that even if Mich beats OSU for the third slot, then Iowa will have the head to head against Oregon (both at 10-2) and grab the 4th slot.
