No he's not. He's happy that his team is in a tournament it has no chance to win. The NCAA tournament is a sucker's bet, teams hang participation ribbons if they go and don't even win. Pretty sad.

On the other point, we should be even better next year. Who knows what happens with the rest of the conference since there are so many possible NBA early entrants.

In addition, AB knows that Wisconsin has pretty-much plateaued as a program, if it isn't already starting a downward trend. They aren't going to get any better, and I think that they will actually get worse.
Wisconsin isn't going to tank or anything, but they will be eclipsed by Iowa and Purdue in the near future, and it is likely to stay that way for awhile. Maybe not next year, but soon.
That said, I hope they do great in the tourney this year.

I think the NIT will be a good springboard for next season where Iowa will be 2-3 deep at most positions.

Nope, because before we got Fran, we played slow, boring basketball. The kind that no decent player wants to play.
Wisconsin plays pretty slow, I guess, but they have had pretty good tradition over the last decade, so they will be fine for the most part.
